Mel Peterson - Grants Pass Medford Southern Oregon Real Estate
About Southern Oregon
Southern Oregonis a community that inspires the art of healthy living, while encouraging one to explore and create a life in balance. Nature and beauty abounds around every corner in Southern Oregon, from the mighty wild and scenic Rogue River, to the beautiful vineyards and gorgeous National Forests.
Southern Oregonis a great place to visit and a wonderful place to call home. If you are thinking of retiring, or just relocating to a better place on earth, contact us today for more information regarding the Southern Oregon Real Estate Market. You'll be glad you did!
Originally a Southern California native... after a head-on car crash, being a witness to a few violent crimes and receiving a gun as a present on my 35th birthday, I realized it was time to find a better place on earth to live. So, I visited Southern Oregon.
The attraction to Grants Pass, Oregon was the beauty of the land, the friendliness of the people, and the cost of living. Oregon offers no sales tax, DMV registrations at $86.00 for two years (no matter the year, make or model of your car) and affordable housing prices. Not to mention, the simple pleasures of not having to pump your own gas... in Oregon, it's full service for everyone!
I'm often called a matchmaker, probably due to the fact that my team and I work together with unique motivation and creativity, introducing eager clients to just the right property. With the abundance of real estate opportunities in Southern Oregon, it's easy to see how invaluable a good real estate broker can be. With our client's interest at heart, we do our homework. When working with buyers, we research what's available in our client's price range (never going over unless given permission to do so). We weed out incompatible matches and narrow down the search until the perfect pairing is made. When working with sellers, our team focuses on what's important: Attracting an abundance of buyers to the property, negotiating the best price, and closing the transaction with the least amount of hassles.
It's not rocket science... accomplishing these tasks requires considerable knowledge, skill, and understanding. It takes knowing how to make a personal connection between the individual needs of a client, and the idiosyncrasies of a particular property. It also requires a special appreciation for the area and its immense beauty. At the end of the day, it's our desire to combine all of these elements into each transaction with the ultimate goal of Creating Relationships of Land and Life!
Perhaps it's your desire to find a personable down-to-earth Realtor to help you make your next move. As a full-time Real Estate Broker, I dedicate a considerable amount of time to continuing education, staying up on the latest laws and regulations affecting real estate in Oregon. In doing so, I've managed to earn a few prestigious real estate designations too: Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR), Accredited Staging Professional (ASP), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Internet Professional (e-Pro). To be perfectly honest, the designations don't mean a whole lot unless I'm able to earn your confidence and trust. That's where I get my real kudos!
I don't like sales pitches or arm-twisters, so you won't get that from me. I never try to fit a square peg in a round hole, and I hope you don't either. If it's a good deal, I'll tell you. And, if it's a bad deal, I'll tell you. What you can expect from me is straight-forward answers and a sincere effort to help you find what you're looking for. And... at the end of the day, I hope we'll consider one another life-long friends!
About Melinda Peterson's Real Estate Experience & Associations
An antique store owner and former Santa Barbara resident, this Seller knew just what she was doing when she remodeled this 70's ranch style home with a European flare and attention to every detail. We got lots of calls on this one, before it sold to some lucky Californians. We can't wait to see her next project!
Meadow Wood Beauty
These world travelers decided to sell their home in Southern Oregon and move to Sequim, WA (where the best Lavendar farm in the world is located). It's a far cry from Switzerland, but we are sure they are happy. We are going to miss them and their expert landscaping and gardening advice!
Reunited And It Feels So Good
The Kay Family once lived in Grants Pass and decided to move to WA to be closer to their kids. But, they got tired of the nasty weather up there and decided to come back to Southern Oregon. We had this cutie-pie home waiting for them when they arrived.
Stunning Views for These Baby Boomers
Running from the rat race and ready to retire, we helped these CA folks purchase a log home in the country overlooking the Applegate Valley. Now they just sit on their back deck with a cup of coffee and watch the cows go by.
The market is HOT right now. With interest rates so low, and inventory so high, it's a Buyer's market. What are you waiting for? Now's the time to buy that second home in one of the best places on earth to live!
The Forest Service Building
The owners of this commercial building live in Carlsbad, CA, and needed some expert marketing skills to expose this property to the masses. We did just that! And, guess what... We received 4 offers, and the property sold for more than the asking price at $2.6 million! Wow!
Pottery Barn Cutie
Just in the nick of time! We sold this charming home in Medford, Oregon after just 6 days on the market (which made the Suarez family pretty happy). Because they both had jobs waiting for them in Los Angeles, they were ready to move quickly. They were awesome sellers and were willing to take our advice and stage their home just perfectly.
Calling all Californians!
We were stunned when this California stucco-style home SOLD in just 37 days (to a Californian, of course)! The Seller (who is a dear friend) was surprized too! Now she is on her way to Arizona to enjoy her retirement. We wish her all the best and many happy years to come!
Trading Spaces with the "Other" Realtor
This home had been on the market with another Realtor for 6 months. We got the listing and encouraged the owners to reposition their furnishings and stage the home for new pictures. The result: The house sold in just 41 days on the market, and at full price! One of the owners was so happy, she became a Realtor! You go girl.
Tragic Story with a Bright Future
Tragically, this family lost their beloved husband and father, which forced them to move into town to be closer to their family. We found this little cutie which was perfect for their needs. The boys can stay in the same school district and Mom can be closer to school. Blessings to this family as they adjust to their new life without their loved one.
Home on the Range
Plenty of room to roam for this family and their dogs & goats on this mini-ranch in Grants Pass. Another transplant from CA, they are happy as clams living in Southern Oregon.

Mary had a little cottage near the Applegate River. She wanted to sell and move closer to her family in Eugene. We showed Mary how to stage her home for the best photos, and boy did that make a difference! Some nice folks from Utah saw her cottage online, and decided to buy it.
Ready - Set - Sold!
These savvy California investors were quite pleased when they received the call their home was in escrow! A lovely first-time home buyer enjoyed the fruits of their labor... not to mention the beautiful views from the back deck.
