Interior designer in California developed a full tutorial for anyone wanting to stage their own home.

The Path I have Taken

In the first 5 years of my career I fully furnished and decorated over 400 model homes and serviced all the buyer follow-up for those subdivisions. I knew the price of every item and where it was purchased for years to come. I lived, ate, and breathed budget, furniture placement, proportion, traffic flow, color scheme, contrast, texture, art, accessories, swags and tub drapes. Every little detail was obsessed over in my waking hours as well as my sleeping hours. I ran the Breaders Cup in my first race and came up on the other side an expert in model home decoration. I even studied under the world renowned Carol Eichen...I was star struck. Whew! What was next? My own design studio in San Clement, CA.

While in South Orange County,  my clients ranged from Texas Instruments in San Juan Capistrano to Miss Arizona high atop a hill in Laguna Niguel. I even designed a custom home for a airline pilot that was four stories tall and shaped like a nautilus seashell. That was interesting!

But to my surprise, my favorite project was a favor asked of me by a Realtor/friend to help her with a listing that she was asking too much for in its' present condition. I lived in Dana Point and the listing was in Dana Point so I said sure, let me see what I can do! In 11 days I transformed that house from bachelor pad to high end drama and it sold for her asking price during the Realtor walk-through. "That was too much fun" I said to myself! So began my love affair with the instant gratification of home staging! I did not have to work with difficult personalities or offer marriage counseling or keep the kids off my shoulders. Did I say this was fun already?

So for the next 20 years I designed and decorated homes all up and down California leaving my mark. I love what I do but to this day, when I am asked to "update" a listing, my heart begins to flutter and I cannot even remember what projects I have going at the time, I want to jump right in and get started! Instant gratification...there is nothing like a whole chocolate candy bar all to myself and a home staging project! YUM!

Something About Me

After living and working all over California from San Francisco to San Diego, I have settled in a rural area of the San Joaquin Valley known as Selma...the raisin capitol of the world. I like to think of it as our own Napa Valley as there are vineyards all around me. I have 2 grown sons and 1 beautiful granddaughter that calls me Nana. I couldn't be happier! I am passionate about my internet business and painting large gallery canvas paintings expressing my many moods (that is where the name of my company came from..."California Moods!")

My dream is to hear the waves crashing at my front door. My favorite movie of all time is THE SAND PIPER with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. That is how I see myself next. In the meantime, I am thrilled to be a part of Active Rain and all its' communities.
