I have personally, and solely, purchased three homes and have sold two. Buying your dream home or selling your house is a very exciting as well as a very intimidating and stressful time in one's life. Journeying through the experience of homeownership has made me very sensitive about what my clients are feeling. I know how to be there for them, the way my Realtor was there for me.
Knowledge of the current Real Estate Market, follow up and tenacity are the key factors in a successful real estate transaction. I return correspondences in a timely manner and I stay on top of your file. Even when nothing is pressing, I make random calls to the attorneys involved in your transaction just to say hi and to see how things are going; and I stay in touch with the agents with whom I am working, to make sure things are going well at their end of the transaction. I don't like surprises. I like to keep ahead of the wave, and I know my clients feel the same way. I will make sure your deal stays tight and on track in the beginning, middle and end.
Before becoming a Realtor, I was part of corporate America. I worked as a Derivatives Document Specialist for both Long Term Capital Management in Greenwich, Connecticut and then for Salomon Smith Barney in New York, New York. I was also a Lead OCIP Administrator for MRM in Westport, CT. My background in these areas have given me a strong business sense combined with the know-how to best serve my client base. I understand that the needs of the client must be met with efficiency and a sense of urgency.
I was born and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, and I know this area like the back of my hand. I never realized, until I was older, what a gift it was to have been raised in Fairfield. It's always so amazing to me how many people, who were raised here, come back to our area to put their roots down!
I hold a Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut in General Studies with a Focus in Law, and a Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

"The intent of this letter is to give the highest endorsement to Stephanie Barnes. Stephanie was our broker for our most recent purchase which involved us moving from California to Connecticut. Stephanie came highly recommended from friends. I first started working with Stephanie in the October 2008 timeframe. I was contemplating a career change and a move to the East Coast. Stephanie understood I had no clear timeline and that the move might never happen yet she made herself available and gave me tools to research the area and housing market.
Fast forward to February 2009, my job opportunity came through and the move was eminent. Our laissez-faire house hunting quickly became an urgent matter but was complicated by the fact that we needed to sell our home in California during a down economy. My family and I visited Stephanie one weekend in April when she spent the entire weekend with us and looked at over 15 homes. Stephanie knew exactly what mattered to us, what we would and wouldn't like and showed us the best houses we could get for our price range. She made create use of our time and ultimately led us to the home we are living in today.
Around the same time, we had an offer on our home in California with a quick closing so we needed to expedite closing the house in Connecticut. As we were in California, Stephanie was our representative throughout the entire process. I have a bit of experience in home sales as I have sold 5 houses and purchased 4. This particular deal was the most difficult one I have ever experienced (due to many unforeseen circumstances completely out of Stephanie's control). If it weren't for Stephanie I would have given up several times and ended up in temporary corporate housing (which I did not want to do). Stephanie got us through a painful negotiation process, met with our inspector, contractors and handled all the details that we would have normally done ourselves had we been local. She truly went above and beyond the call of duty.
Most important to me was that Stephanie really knows the Fairfield county market and explored a myriad of options with us. Stephanie has a business background and always supported any gut feels (although often right) with research and numbers. She provided different ranges and options to us which helped us understand the tradeoffs of our decisions. In what can become an emotionally charged ordeal (especially while planning a cross country move with 2 small children), Stephanie helped us think through the process logically and ultimately we made great decisions because of her.
Out of the 6 realtors I have worked with in the past, Stephanie is the cream of the crop. I highly recommend her and would certainly user her again myself." ~ Bridget Bidlack
"In 2007 we purchased our first home from Stephanie Barnes when we relocated back to the United States from Australia, as my husband was beginning a new job in Manhattan.
For family reasons our search focus was Fairfield County and during a Sunday open house in the company of Stephanie I fell in love with a home that met all our needs and price-point. This instantly became my dream home and no other home would compare.
After indicating our interest I was saddened to learn that the property was under deposit by not one but two other parties. I was heartbroken given the apparent insurmountable obstacle confronting us that would result in the prospect of moving on.
Stephanie was fully aware of our hopes and at her instruction and with her guidance and support she encouraged us to submit an offer which she drew up and submitted it despite the odds that were stacked against us.
A week later I received a call from Stephanie who had been diligently monitoring the progress and she informed me that both of the offers had fallen through and that we were now first in line.
We jumped at the opportunity before us and with Stephanie's help negotiated a price below the seller's asking price which was accepted. The dream house was officially ours.
If it were not for Stephanie's proactive and supportive approach then our hopes would have remained in our dreams. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Stephanie and have no hesitation in recommending her services to anyone in search of their dream home." ~ Ellen Kelly
