Greetings! I'm Denise Goodman, from Wichita, KS

About Us:

I worked in Corporate America and as a Realtor 10 years before completing my M.S. Degree in Computer Education at Kansas State University. I accepted a position at JCCC as a Professor in Computer Science in 2000 and continue to work part-time teaching in a university.  However, the new "global economy" suddenly makes my M.S. Degree and corporate work experience worth about 1/4 of what I had been promised 20 years ago.  Can you relate?

So, I can completely understand how shifts in the economy can suddenly throw a wrench into what was previously considered to be a great job.

Right now, we are in the middle of just such a shift in the mortgage industry. We're currently experiencing what has been dubbed a "Mortgage Meltdown" in America. In fact, here are a few of the recent headlines I read in last week's Yahoo Finance:

    * US Foreclosure Filings Up 68 Percent in Nov. 2007
    * Mortgage lenders, brokers, estate agents and valuers agree that property prices will slow dramatically in 2008 - and, in some regions, fall.
    * Credit Crunch Dims '2008 Outlook

This is NOT a pretty picture if you are involved in the Real Estate or Mortgage Industry -- especially in certain parts of the country like California and Florida. Even areas that do not have similar property value downfalls, we are experiencing job layoffs which lead to affluent areas downsizing and even having homes foreclosed on.  Unprecedented in our lifetime.

Can you relate to what I'm talking about?
