About Us:

Home Safe Home Inspections, LLC first incorporated in 2001.  Dave Macy owner, is not only a certified home inspector, but also as a state licensed radon tester and a state licensed wood destroying insect inspector.  You will appreciate Dave's educated ability to communicate and inform your clients, and his gentle sense of humor makes the process much less dry.  Continually reading and utilizing current educational programs, Dave is very up-to-date with the home inspection industry, its many changes, new products and techniques.  When you choose a home inspector, you should insist on Dave Macy.

Areas of Expertise

Dave has many strengths, though listed here not in order of importance:

  • Communication and explanation of both strengths and weaknesses of a given property.
  • Diagnosing specific problems.   Water is the killer of houses, inside and out.  Through the use of moisture metering, water issues can be evaluated and looked at with a determined focus.
  • General understanding of building techniques, proper methods of practice, materials usage and renovation consultations.
  • People skills.
  • Desire to learn and extensive, ongoing reading.  Dave accomplishes at least 24 hours of continuing education each year.  We cannot get enough information!

I contacted the inspector for an estimate and job description. What I appreciated was the fact that, prior to my hiring him, he told me to feel free to call him with questions anytime. After establishing a date and time for the inspection, I received an electronic copy of the contract and the inspection guideline that I could review prior to the time of the inspection. The inspector arrived roughly an hour prior to the time set for the inspection to allow himself enough time to gain a perspective of the job, and to have the paperwork ready on time. He performed a thorough inspection of my home, inside and out. He sat down and reviewed his findings with me verbally, and I received a hard copy of his report the same day as promised, even though the inspection did not end until after 5pm.

I called and spoke to Mr. Macy directly and was able to set up an appointment for the very next day. The appointment didn't work out from our end, but Mr. Macy was very flexible and willing to accommodate my schedule. He was also willing to work with my Realtor and seller directly to coordinate scheduling for the radon test, which saved me countless phone calls. On the day of the inspection, he arrived well before me and began the exterior inspection, and then I accompanied him for the rest. He was excellent about explaining his observations and concerns, and answered my (numerous!) questions and offered suggestions on maintenance and repairs. He took photos to document his findings, and took the time to check the property extremely thoroughly. His report was delivered via email later that night...it was detailed, easy to understand, and he was happy to answer a couple of questions I had the next day. Mr. Macy was a real pleasure to work with, and I would recommend him highly!

David fully went through the entire property inside and out. He found several major concerns, safety issues and repair items which would need to be addressed and explained each and every one of them to me in great detail. He was extremely comprehensive with the inspection and discovered many problems which were not apparent to me before. Following the inspection, he sent me a full electronic report, with pictures, summarizing everything I needed to know. After careful consideration, I decided to withdraw from the purchase of this home because of the information gathered during the inspection. David was always very responsive, always answered my questions and phone calls promptly and courteously.
