WHAT IS A HOME INSPECTION?
A home inspection is a professional evaluation of a property, based on what the inspector can see. It should be considered an educational tool for making an informed purchase. All home inspectors in North Carolina must be licensed by the state and take yearly continuing education courses to maintain their knowledge.

WHY DO I NEED ONE?
There are a variety of reasons to hire a home inspector. When you purchase a property, you'll want a report on the condition of the home, based on the inspector's visual analysis. If you're selling a property, an inspection before it's placed on the market will give you valuable information for pricing and negotiating. We want you to have a better understanding of how the home works, how the systems function, and the overall physical condition of the structure.

HOW IS IT CONDUCTED?
Generally, the inspection will take 2 - 3 hours, and it's always best if the client is present. The inspector will observe all the systems of the home (see below) making notes as he goes. At the end of the inspection, he will review his findings with you and provide a full report with photos and summary within 48 hours. You will receive a password via email and will be able to download the report from the Home Gauge website. Payment is due at the time of inspection.

WHAT IS INSPECTED?
During your inspection, we will make a visual examination of all reasonably accessible areas of the home in accordance with the North Carolina Standards of Practice. Systems that are inspected include:

Remember, our job as your home inspector is to visually inspect the reasonably accessible areas of the home. We can't technically evaluate or report on the life expectancy of a component or system. We will, however, suggest that you consult with other professional trades such as HVAC technicians, professional engineers, or others, for further evaluation of a component or system.
