About Sylvia

 I have a unique combination of a background in teaching and education, along with over four years of experience in reverse mortgage sales, management and training.  My teaching background includes first grade teacher in the public schools and college professor at Utah State University where I earned my Doctorate in Education.

I firmly believe that my job is to educate a senior and their family about the reverse mortgage so that they can make an informed decision.  I also believe that I cannot make a recommendation to the senior until I have a thorough understanding of their unique situation and what their goals are.  This takes time and is a process I take my clients through so that if they decide to move forward with the reverse mortgage, they have all the facts and know exactly what they are doing.  That way we can all sleep at night!

I began my career originating reverse mortgages with Liberty Reverse Mortgage (now Genworth Home Equity) where I was promoted to the Northwest Regional Manager.  I had the privilege of coaching and training loan advisors in five states for Liberty. I was also instrumental in assisting them to develop their very successful training program, which has helped Liberty and their team to become one of the top reverse mortgage lenders in the industry. 

Currently I originate loans with Watermark Capital, Inc. and I can help borrowers in 46 states.  I have personally closed nearly 500 reverse mortgages in the last 5 years.  I am also a licensed Real Estate agent and have earned my Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation.

My credo: "I have found that originating and teaching reverse mortgages has been one of the most satisfying and rewarding careers of my life. I believe we all have a purpose in life. My purpose is to teach, which is what I have been doing in one form or another for most of my life. I enjoy coaching loan and real estate professionals in how to do reverse mortgages the right way so that they can best serve their clients. I also love teaching the senior client how a reverse mortgage works and seeing that "aha"! moment when they get it."
