Don has forty years of business and entrepreneurial experience. He owned and operated Canada’s first Salt Water Aquarium store while he was in university. He owned and ran a chain of pet stores and introduced innovative in-store facilities for his animals. Don has also managed a marina/boatyard in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a charter company in the British Virgin Islands and a sail loft in St Martin. He also worked as his wife’s agent and manager while in the Caribbean. In all the businesses he owned or operated he offered a high level of service and commitment to his clients or customers.

While in the Caribbean he carried boat loads of clothing and school supplies to an orphanage, supported hurricane relief funds and helped many individuals on land as well as on board boats in many ways.

Don is a past President of the Silver Star Rotary.  Through the Rotary, Don is able to participate in such community projects as local high school scholarships, community gardens and the annual Heart Day CPR classes.  

Don is a long standing member of NORA (North Okanagan Referral Association). This is an association of Vernon business people who meet weekly to help each other improve their businesses and also raise money for Christmas hampers, as well as many other local charities and funds, such as supporting paralympian, Josh Dueck.
