Don is one of three home inspectors who does home inspections for our company and for other Realtors in Dyersburg. Don and his brother John both work for Advantage Inspections but most of my experience is with Don. Don comes by the office on a regular basis asking us if there is anything he can do for us. Out of site means out of mind! My agents and I use Don often for home inspections because he is good at his job. He takes lots of pictures and explains in simple terms what he finds during his inspections.
His home inspection includes a thorough inspection inside checking all the electrical, mechanical, plumbing and also inspecting for leaks and also cracks in the sheet rock (which means other problems). Don then goes outside and walks around the house looking for problems, then he inspects the roof and flashing around all the roof penetrations. The last thing he does is crawl under the house to look for items such as mold, mildew, plumbing leaks and loose electrical wiring.
On the last home inspection he did for me(on Feb 16.2008) Don found mold and mildew under the house and recommended that the mold be sprayed with a chemical which would kill it. Don talked to the buyer after completing the inspection and told the buyer his findings and about the mold and assured the buyer that it was not a big deal if it was treated properly. Don also told the buyer and myself that he would e-mail both of us a copy of his report in a couple of days. The seller just spent $480 to have the mold and mildew treated. My buyer is happy and I am happy!
