The Losers:
Most savvy Realtors understand, unfortunately there are many opportunities for Realtors to be taken advantage of, via Marketing Silver Bullets by unscrupulous Scammers. I could write a book about them and it would bogle your mind, if you were not privy to some or all these scams. Then there are more subtle ways of taking Realtor’s money.
Just to give you a background: I was marketing a very expensive large parcel of land in the coveted 90210 zip code. Hence, I had advertisements in numerous Luxury Publications. The demographics of the target readership consisted of high net worth individuals… This of course exposed me to many different marketers who were reaching out to me. It also allowed me to do some self-marketing as well. The purpose of course was to generate future business from ultra-luxury buyers as well as ultra-luxury sellers in Beverly Hills and the Globe.
This particular, Magazine Advertisement person claimed, that they would place their magazines in Private Country Clubs in the greater Los Angeles in turn I would reap the benefit of the exposure. Well it turned out, they publish these nice magazines, but did not deliver them to the Country Clubs. Instead they deliver them to their target market, the unsuspecting Realtors, who see other Realtors advertising in their fake magazines. Thanks to a vigilant Realtor and American Express, it became only a time loss and lost opportunity costs.
The Winners:
There are many winning opportunities in marketing, but we are too busy to talk or write about them. In my experience one of the most productive marketing strategy I have had in the past ten years, has been my single-minded focus on being on every internet platform. How did I achieve this? I joined Active Rain and started reading, followed by commenting and ultimately writing a blog. Over time, I have found my “voice”.
I made sure that, I had my profile on all the other platforms such as Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, FB and the list goes on and on. When, I write my post on Active Rain, in turn I syndicate it out to all the other platforms. What does it cost me: a great deal of my personal time i.e.: no time to watch TV, limited time to read books and the list goes on? Some might say, but it is free, well I disagree with that analysis, ‘Time’ is the most valuable commodity we have. As we get older, I am sure many of us would be willing to pay “for extra time on this earth”, but indeed it is “technically free”!

The results: I have had more International buyers and sellers than most people could imagine. Indeed, they have purchased or sold properties and I represented them in their transactions. How did they find me? They found me through Mr. Google. Go ahead, I challenge you to put my name in a Google Search: Endre Barath and see where I pop up.
The proof of my results is clear: every year I am listed somewhere in the top 4-10% of all Berkshire Hathaway Realtors Nationwide as a direct result of my Internet Marketing.
The Future: I have been quietly working on another tool, but that is To Be Announced later, primarily since I am not sure, if it will be a Winner or a Loser at the current time it looks like it could go either way. In the meantime, one thing I plan on doing in 2018, is to use all the Berkshire Hathaway Marketing Tools that have been available to me all this time at no cost and I have been meaning to implement them….
Keeping in mind, the excuses are many, but the reality is when things are working we tend to stick to the tried and tested material which has generated great results. Hence any new tool is to augment rather than replace what is already working.
