A Designation to Remember - Certified Military Residential Specialist
Anyone who knows me, knows how passionate I am about continuing education - and yes, I’m a firm believer in obtaining designations; anything that furthers our knowledge and makes us better professionals for our clients, is certainly worth the time and expense we put forth for these designations.
On Friday, I had the honor of attending THE best continuing education class I’ve ever attended! The designation was for the Certified Military Residential Specialist - how appropriate that this class be held the Friday before Veteran’s Day!
Growing up in a military family, I have always held such an honor for the men and women or our military - and their families - for their faithfulness to all Americans in providing us the freedoms that we enjoy on a daily basis. They go well above and beyond what many of us here at home could ever even fathom.
I’ve always enjoyed reading information that some of my friends post who live in military areas (Cindy Jones & Melissa Gallagher-McKinney are a couple). These agents are true military specialists, as they know the ins and out of mortgage/lending, deployment and the challenges faced by our active duty military.
The class included a multitude of videos, featuring some of America’s finest and it was such an honor knowing that I was preparing to be the homeland ‘watchdog.‘ In our area, that would be for military families whose family member has been deployed and for the large population of retired military that we have in our area.
The presenters held our attention until the grand finale which brought tears to all 400 in attendance on Friday. ActiveRain's own Louise Thaxton (with Fairway Mortgage) spearheaded the class and organizing the theme for the week, “4 Veterans, 4 Homes, 4 Days,” giving a home away in four different cities during a week-long tour while training new CMRS agents.
What an honor to be present to witness Fairway honor this wounded veteran and his family. It is going to be my honor to ascertain that military families working with me will get the service that they so deserve.
Remember to honor our veterans not only tomorrow but, each and every day of the year!
