MY BIO:

A Realtor with The Lipman Group | Sotheby's International Realty in Green Hills, I am a Nashville Native and Second Generation Realtor. I grew up in the Oak Hill area of Nashville. I'm a 1992 Graduate with Honors of Franklin Road Academy High School and a 1996 Graduate with Honors of Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, Louisiana. My work history includes teaching music and selling real estate. In 2006 I purchased a home in Oak Hill and am happy to be living back in the neighborhood where I grew up!  I love to listen to all kinds of music, I play piano and enjoy singing.  I also like to read and work in my garden.

I began selling real estate just after the market crashed (licensed in 2007). Many real estate agents thought I was crazy for trying to start out at that time, but I thought "if I can make it during this time, I'll be able to make it any time". I spent a LOT of time educating myself during those first couple of years. As a result, I understand what it takes to sell and buy real estate with our current market. Blogging. Social networking. I think the best advice when it comes to real estate is the following:

 

  1. Don't rush! Real estate is best sold and bought with careful consideration. Listen to the advice of professionals - your Realtor, your Mortgage Lender, Home Inspectors, Appraisers and YOUR HEART AND MIND.
  2. Don't let anyone push you into anything you aren't certain you want to do. Those who are trying to push you into doing something you aren't certain about HAVE AN AGENDA. When you're feeling pressure from someone, take a step back and re-evaluate with the people you trust.
  3. If you find yourself in a bad real estate situation, remember "this too shall pass". While there is no easy fix to being upside-down on a mortgage or in a place where you may lose your house to foreclosure, there is always a way out with dignity. Take a deep breath, call a Realtor and focus on the solution.
  4. Find a Realtor that you can trust. As with every other profession, there are good Realtors and bad ones. Ask around. Interview. Get references. High or low sales numbers don't automatically indicate good and bad Realtors. A good Realtor will promote a win-win situation in a real estate transaction. They will advise you on how to make your house look the most "sellable" and will tell you if they think the house you want to buy is a good one or a bad one.
