I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and descended from “sourdough” grandparents on both sides who were homesteaders in the 1940s, when Alaska was still a territory, as well as from Oregon Trail pioneers who settled in Polk County in the 1850s. (The family homestead is now part of the Basket-Sough Wildlife Refuge.) I carry my ancestor’s spirit of adventure and ability to forge new paths in everything I do. By pursuing a real estate career in the revolutionary and expanding field of Exclusive Buyer Representation, I call on those strengths and more. I understand the importance of owning a home and the dream and security it provides to an individual and family on a very basic level.
I attended the University of Washington and Brigham Young University and married Phil in 1985. We moved to Salem, Oregon when Phil took a job as a pharmacist at Salem Hospital. While having our six children, I had varied experiences as a small business owner, including a farm and raising an award-winning herd of cashmere goats, and an in-home hair salon, and a personalized poetry service, and a registry service for home-based businesses. I’ve worked in marketing and sales for a local business, helping triple their sales, winning the company a national award. I attended Chemeketa Community College in 2007-08, studying graphic design, business and computers applications.
After having numerous less than satisfactory, to down-right scary experiences in buying my own homes, I discovered there was a better way to navigate the home buying process. I became a client of this very company with Terry Cannon as my Exclusive Buyer’s Agent. It was a fabulous experience, yet I also recognized how many consumers aren’t aware the option of 100% exclusive representation even exists. It was then I decided to help educate people and serve them as an Exclusive Buyer’s Agent myself, and help Oregon Exclusive Buyers Realty, LLC reach them by utilizing my design and marketing skills.
I became a Realtor in 2008 with the express purpose of serving buyers in a way that eliminates all conflict-of-interest and assures their best interests. Since that time I have been pursuing advanced educational opportunities and trainings to provide the highest level of service to buyers in all aspects of their real estate transaction. I bring enthusiasm and an intense commitment to provide top-notch service and representation in the real estate buying process. I love what I do! As first time home buyers we were of course a little nervous, but we really tried to do our homework and feel as prepared as possible when we were ready to get out there. I knew I wanted to work with a buyer’s agent because then I would have someone working for me and I wouldn’t be talked into something that wasn’t right. I went out to see a house with the typical seller’s agent; I was asking questions and it seemed to me the agent needed to do more research. All my questions were answered with “maybe” and “I don’t know.” It was very discouraging so I decided to find someone that had at least the info I did.
That is when I came across Nannette She contacted me immediately and every question I had was immediately answered. If she wasn’t sure on something she got me the information quickly (usually within the hour). She really went above and beyond sometimes replying to my e-mails at 1 in the morning when something struck us and we needed some reassurance. She stood by us through a really horrible situation on a short sale that didn’t work out and when we found the perfect place we had our offer accepted within less than 12 hours of first seeing the house.
When Nannette was unable to help us with something, Terry was right there to back her up they helped me arrange a good inspection and were right there with me for the entire thing. From the very beginning Nannette helped us to make sure we had all our ducks in a row so we could jump when we saw the place we wanted. It really paid off we found a wonderful house for our family and it was all thanks to Nannette.
