- I’m married, a dad, and a grandpa. I live simple, I’m a Dog lover, I pick bluegrass on a flat top guitar, and I try hard these days to reduce our carbon footprint.
I became licensed in 1988 with CREB (Calgary Real Estate Board) as a Residential Realtor, and a year or so later added Commercial Realtor to my job description. In 2000, the "Condominium Property Act" of Alberta was revised and proclaimed into law. This legislation provided huge enhancements to consumer protection for Alberta condominium buyers. I had previously avoided condo work but now I was excited to add the marketing of condo properties to my Real Estate business plan.
To distinguish myself in a positive way apart from other Calgary Realtors, I took every Condo focused educational program available. The volume of condo work steadily increased in my business and in 2005 I became a condo owner myself. That same year I became involved in the management of my condo complex by being elected to serve as the President of the Board of Directors.
My experience with and love for condos had grown exponentially in a very short time.
In 2006, my Real Estate Board decided higher education was needed for condos so they created a specialty designation program. I completed that program earning the CREB designation of CCS (Certified Condominium Specialist)
Most recently, in 2009, I completed the ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) program earning the ABR Designation. Although I continue to serve buyers and sellers of single family homes, today I work almost exclusively marketing Condominium properties within the City of Calgary's city limits. In fact, as a full time Realtor... serving Calgary buyers and sellers, Condos now account for almost 90% of what I do in Real Estate these days.

Fred Ferguson was my listing agent. I called him because he is the realtor who sells most of the condos in my complex.
My Problem was... the market was slow, nothing was selling, and my unit was really small. In the economic downturn these units were particularly unpopular with the folks who were buying.
I'd become very unhappy in my apartment. I really wanted to move but it looked as though I'd be stuck here for a long while. Fred listed my apartment on December 10th 2009.
I expected nothing would happen over Christmas and I assumed it would be mid January before we'd get any showings.I tried to be optimistic that things would pick up in the spring and I hoped it would eventually sell by summer. What happened next came right out of the blue.
On the 29th day after listing my place and only two showings, Fred called me to tell me that he had an offer for my place. After negotiations were concluded the price was better than I expected and I got the firm sale that I had hoped for... I was now free to plan for my next move.
