This IS Our West Virginia

Lewisburg WVLewisburg WV real estate agent in Lewisburg, West Virginia and the Greenbrier County -  In 2004, my husband and I were in West Virginia attending my nephews wedding.  Afterwards, he suggested we drive to Lewisburg and checkout the area for a possible retirememt area.  Well, we fell in love with this quaint historical town.  We found a lot in Greenbrier Pines Subdivision, about a mile from the town of Lewisuburg.  We purchased two lots for building our retirement home.

In 2005, while working and living in Arlington, Virginia, my husband and I started building our house in Lewisburg.  We drove to Lewisburg every weekend during the building phase. We enjoyed getting out of the city, not to menton the traffic.

We stayed at the James Wylie House in White Sulphur Springs, and also at the Brier Inn in Lewisburg. At the James Wylie House, the owner of this Bed and Breakfast made us feel like we were family. The Brier Inn was closer to our building site, and also made us feel right at home.

Of course, the Greenbrier Resort is only ten minutes from Lewisburg. In 1778 (that's right, 1778), guests started flocking to the idyllic White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, resort for the supposed curative effects of the spring of sulphur water. Today, The Greenbrier is known for its golf, spa, and fine dining, not to mention loads of family activities like hiking, pony rides, kayaking -- even falconry! A four-and-a-half-hour drive outside Washington, D.C.

The best thing about living here in Lewisburg is the people. Everyone is so friendly! I remember going into the Cooper Art Gallery and being invited to their Friday evenings get together. We were told the best places to eat, best sites to visit, information on the Greenbrier Valley Theater, Carnegie Hall events, and so much more. We looked forward to going to Lewisburg every weekend, and we started to say "we are going home this weekend".  Because, Lewisburg had become our home even before our house was completed.

I remember the first weekend in Lewisburg, walking around the quaint town, strangers would smile and say "hello".  The first Friday of each month, the stores are opened until 9:00 pm.  One weekend, my brother was visiting from Tennessee, and since it was First Friday we went to town.  He was astonished at the many people walking around in town after dark. Couples going to the theater or dinner, singles at the Irish Pub or Martini Bar, or couples pushing their babies in strollers browsing through the shops.

Come visit Lewisburg...... You will absolutely love it here!

Resorts, outdoor dramas, parks, natural wonders and amazing engineering feats will entice you to this busy area. Here scenic beauty and wild rivers provide food for the soul, as well as, a feast for the eye. There are incredible state parks, adventures awaiting on the mild or wild whitewater of the region and hiking and biking on rail trails or on the backroads and forests of your choice. Once you explore the mountains and the valleys, the stunning scenery and still untamed terrain, the old railroad towns and the new centers of culture and commerce, you will want to live here!
