About Me:

Gretchen is a Realtor® for RE/MAX Town and Country in Gig Harbor, Washington. She entered the field of real estate to offer homebuyers and sellers a quality and informed experience in the biggest investment of their lives, their homes. She looks out for her clients' best interests by listening to their wants and needs; negotiating on their behalf; maintaining effective communication between all parties involved in the transaction; educating them in the transaction process and by providing additional follow up client care services. She draws from her professional and personal experiences and believes that the key to business success is all about people and follow-through.

Gretchen has an extensive background with military life. She was born into it, later worked for the Federal Government Civil Service and enlisted in the Army Reserves stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. She married an officer assigned to the 2nd/75th Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis and continued with her Civil Service career moving across the country and later settling in Gig Harbor with her husband and two boys. She knows first hand what it takes to prepare for a move, to survive a move and establish new roots in a community. Her work history focused on customer care; people and organizational skills; attention to details and performance.

Gretchen's qualifications include: Non-commissioned Officer, US Army; Associate Arts & Sciences degree, community volunteer; BSA Pacific Harbors Council trainer and volunteer: numerous hours of continuing education in the field of real estate. She also holds the At Home With Diversity (AHWD) certification and the Graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI) designation.

Gretchen strives to serve clients in a manner that keeps their best interests at heart. Once you have made a decision to buy/sell based on job relocation; are out-growing a home or down-sizing to a smaller place, it is important to research the area and get a feel for it. She can provide you with information on the community you are considering and it's surrounding areas. Additionally, she has an extensive network of real estate agents in Washington and across the United States she can refer you to, freeing up your time so you can focus on moving. It is her pleasure and privilege to assist you with your real estate needs.

Areas of Expertise

First Time Home  Buyers:  It has been my great pleasure to assist first time home buyers in Pierce County.  It is very rewarding for me to help individuals achieve the American Dream of owning their own home.  Many counties in the state offer assistance to first time home buyers, give me a call for more information.

Buyers:'  Currently we are experiencing a 'Buyer's Market'.  That means there is a high supply of homes for sale with very few buyers.  For a buyer in today's market, there are opportunities to get your next home at a discounted price.  As a buyer's agent I represent you and your best interests and will negotiate hard on your behalf.

I will provide you with current property listings and set appointments for personal showings. Many home buyers are unaware that sellers pay for agent services.  If you have not already looked into financing for your new home, I can put you in touch with a lending institution to get the process started.  It is in your best interest to have loan qualification/committment before you begin actively looking for your new home.  That way you know in the beginning how much home/price range you can afford.  In today's market, sellers are more inclined to accept an offer on their home from a qualified buyer than from someone who still needs to arrange for financing.  Additionally, if the home you want to purchase does not include a one year home warranty as part of the sale, I will gladly provide a one year home warranty as my gift to you as a valued client.

Sellers:  As your listing agent, I represent you and your best interests.  I will provide you with a free current market evaluation to help you determine the right asking price for your home.  It is my goal to position your home on the market so that it sells in the shortest amount of time, least amount of hassel and with the highest return on the dollar to you.  As a valued client, you receive a basic home warranty during the listing period.  My way of ensuring your home is covered during the duration of the listing agreement.  As many of you know when a home is on the market, minor or major things can require maintenance/repair/replacement.  Having a home warranty not only gives you peace of mind, but it also adds value to your home.  Homes that include a warranty typically sell faster than those without.  Additionally, if you are relocating outside of my service area, I will refer you to real estate agent specializing in the new area/neighborhood/city/state you are considering moving to.

Testimonials

Gretchen McKinney served as our realtor and I still think of her often , not only for the wonderful Job she did as our realtor but also for what a warm and friendly person she is. She really listened to our needs when looking for a home . She was mindful of our budget and was never pushy. She made herself available and sent new home listings daily for us to look at. I have recommended Gretchen and will continue to do so. Thanks Gretchen for seeing us as people and finding us a wonderful home that makes us smile each time we step in the door.

I was in search of a piece of land, but was having trouble on my own. I happen to find something on the internet (although it wasn't a fit for me), and that is how I met Gretchen.  I did not commit to working with anyone, but Gretchen started sending me listings, one night I drove out to one of the listings she sent me, and I fell in love....I called her immediately and I think it was close to 9pm.  We got together and made an offer, my offer was declined due to a higher offer.  I was very disappointed and went on my way.  About 2 weeks later Gretchen calls me and says that the deal must have fallen through and the listing expired, she wanted to know if I wanted to put another offer in, long story short, I got that piece of land that I wanted. Gretchen was always there for me, answering any questions and returning all my calls.  Thanks Gretchen!

My husband and I truly enjoyed working with Gretchen in our home buying process. As first time home buyers, we were a bit nervous and overwhelmed.  Gretchen was there every step of the way, whether it was touring a home or just to answer a question and that meant quite a deal to us.  Gretchen still keeps in touch.  It is nice to know she is there if we need her!  Thanks again Gretchen!!!"
