Charles designed the first LEED certified home in the Southeastern United States and multiple Earthcraft certified homes throughout Virginia. Emerging as a leader of the green movement in 2003, he has been a featured speaker at the Department of Energy, University of Virginia, Piedmont Virginia Community College, James Madison University, Massanutten Governor’s School, Albemarle High School, Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center, CAAR, HRAR, and for the Shenandoah Valley Partnership. Charles serves at the chairman of the SVBA Green Building Committee, the Immediate Past President of Central Virginia Construction Specifications Institute, and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects.
