I bought a home for $1,950,000, and put 30% down and the terms I got from Jeff were better than I thought the market would offer: one half a point ($6,825) , $1,200 closing cost, there was no charge to avoid escrow, and the interest rate was 4.875% for 15 years fixed. I think 15 years fixed is the way to go in this market.
Get that? 15 year fixed at 4.875% for a half point. I am self employed and so I had no W2. The rate was originally 5% but jeff dropped it to 4.875 without being asked. My own bank, Northern, where I have banked for years wanted 5.875% with a 5 year ARM! To all of you who have resources, but untraditional work (as in too prosperous to work for a wage): You need to shop around. Do not just go to your private banker. It was a fluke that I got this deal. Honestly, I usually believe my private banker at Northern will take care of me at the lowest cost. This is not the case in this market. The NYT, WSJ, SeekingAlpha, have been telling us to shop around. Make the effort. Some banks want to invest in mortgages, others like Northern at this time, do not make such great deals because because they are luke warm on the idea of lending $1,365,000 for 15 years. I found two mortgage brokers offering deals way better than my private banker (where I thought I had pull). They just might make you a surprised beneficiary of something more than the stock your parents left you in the family company. Jeff is great and is real. And drink Santa Rita Hills Pinot noir when you celebrate your new house. . Jeff saved me $1,140 a month for 15 years. Thats some serious bottles of DRC, Kistler, Talley, Melville, Clos Pepe, and Helen Turley and Paul Lato every month.

We had 60 days before our house was going to be ready. We had called several banks and Jeff had the lowest rate for our score at the time. He suggested that we work on our credit score. We were able to get several items removed and raise our score 50 points. This helped use save $200 a month for 30 years, you do the math. Jeff couldn't havae done a better job.

it's been only a few weeks since we first spoke about the possibility of buying a home. Now, we are our way to closing what we found to be a beautiful house.
