Description
California licensed attorney and commercial real estate broker who helps people with real estate transactions, foreclosure issues, and estate planning.

About me:

I am a California licensed attorney and commercial real estate broker who helps people with their real estate transactions, including investments, acquisitions, leasing, and loan workouts.

I have worked in some aspect of real estate transactions since 1993, with the past several years focused on commercial real estate transactions. I have worked with some of the largest real estate developers, owners, and lenders in the country. With experience in property analysis, due diligence, title and escrow, acquisitions, entity formation, financing, leasing, and ongoing management issues, I offer clients the kind of expertise and insight that only comes from having done it before.

I am a frequent speaker for business owners, investors and professionals on issues related to commercial real estate, including investment analysis, risk management, commercial leasing, and Tenant in Common investments. I am also the Real Estate Legal Issues forum moderator for the Exeter Discussion Board, a website devoted to real estate investment, tax, and legal issues. I also organize the Bay Area Commercial Real Estate Investors Meetup Group, which meets regularly in San Francisco to provide investors with valuable information and networking opportunities.

I graduated from John F. Kennedy University School of Law, Cum Laude, December 2004, and was admitted to practice law in the State of California in May 2005. I am also a licensed real estate broker.

I am a member of the California State Bar, American Bar Association, and Contra Costa County Bar Association.

Practice Areas:

For Homeowners

Foreclosure is currently the single largest issue affecting California property owners. Foreclosures are of special interest to me, because I started my career in real estate back in 1993 as a foreclosure trustee agent - the guy who posts the sale notices and auctions off the properties at the Courthouse.

People are commonly overwhelmed with questions when faced with foreclosure, and many people needlessly lose their homes because they did not have someone on their side to help them understand the available options.

There are also other issues to consider: if the foreclosed property is worth less than the loan balance, can a lender sue a homeowner after the auction? The answer depends on the homeowner's particular situation.

There are options available, but not every option will work for every homeowner. If a homeowner has a present ability to make loan payments, then there may be a way to work with the lender to get an affordable loan modification. Not everyone can stay in their home, because not everyone can afford to make payments, even on a modified loan. Even worse, many homeowners have entered into bad repayment deals with their lenders out of desperation. Some of those deals can make a bad situation even worse. You deserve honest, up front information before you spend any money.

Call the Law Offices of Jason S. Buckingham, Inc. to talk to an actual attorney with experience in dealing with lenders and knowledge of the new loan modification rules. We offer flat fee loan workout services, and we will tell you up front if we believe that our services are not a good fit for your situation.
