Jay and his wife Cheryl moved to the warmer climate of the south from Minnesota in 1998. They have 10 beautiful grandchildren.
Jay is a part of the Folly turtle team and helps to preserve the beautiful coastal beaches of Folly Beach with his wife Cheryl. He is also a member of the Folly Beach business Association.
About Folly Beach
Folly Beach is a laid back community affectionately called the "Edge of America". The island is reminiscent of the beach towns of yesterday with one main street filled with restaurants, beach shops and nightlife. Folly's population is just over 2000, but on a summer day, that number increases drastically. Just 10 minutes from Charleston, it remains a favorite spot for Charlestonians looking to beat the summer heat. Six miles of white sandy beaches provide just the right terrain for shelling, sand castle building or a pick up game of volleyball. The wash-out, found on the eastern side of the island, is considered the premier surf break in the Southeast. The western side of the island offers The Folly Beach County Park complete with restrooms, showers, ample parking and lifeguards.
Folly's pier is 1,000 feet long and perfect for catching fish. There's a tackle shop here as well, to make a fisherman's life that much easier. Parasailing, sea kayaking, bicycle riding, boating ....there's so much to do at Folly every day can be a completely different experience!
