As you can imagine, our local real estate market tends to slow a bit in the winter, but then heat up again in the springtime. If you've been watching the headlines, you know that's likely to be more true this year than ever before. Mortgage rates are down, steps are being taken to stimulate our economy, and real estate is a better investment than ever.
Already, we're seeing a thawing in the market-if not yet in the weather. Both buyers and sellers are ready to stop waiting on the sidelines. Locally, although we do have an inventory of homes, cabins, and vacant land waiting to be sold, we're also finding that there's a lot of pent-up demand out there.
After all... Even as the economy has slowed, people have continued to change jobs, get married, get divorced, start families, add to them, empty their nests, retire, and experience all the other life transitions that mean it's time to buy or sell. That never changes.

For the past several years, I've lived in Gordon, a small town located in the northwestern-most county of Wisconsin.
I know the area well. Still, having originally moved here from St. Paul, MN, I'm especially attuned to the needs and expectations of buyers from elsewhere. I'm comfortable working with clients from the big woods or the big city.
My husband and I love the outdoors, and we love to get out and explore.
That's really helped us get to know the area. I know the roads and trails, and I know the lakes and rivers. And, because I enjoy the outdoors so much myself, I have a deeper understanding of what people area looking for in a home, cabin, or recreational property-and also where they'll have the best chance of finding it.

Of course, different people enjoy the outdoors in different ways.
I've worked with some clients who were passionate about trout fishing, and with others who loved waterskiing. Some wanted to be on a ski trail, and others wanted to be on a snowmobile trail. (Several were interested only in deer trails; if you're looking for hunting land, let's talk.) Some wanted neighbors nearby, and others wanted space, solitude, and silence.
And, even after people have settled on a general location, they tend to value very different features in a home or cabin.
Your dream home isn't the same as mine-and that's OK. It's all part of what makes my job challenging, rewarding, and fun.
If everyone were looking for exactly the same thing in their new home, cabin, or land, then my job would be much easier-but also much less interesting. I take pride in the fact that I work well with a diverse group of clients, from first-time buyers, to buyers ready to move up to a larger home, to seniors looking to downsize.
