No registration? What’s the deal? What’s the catch?
The deal is about your privacy. No catch.
Way before I got into real estate, I attended a very big and fancy church because a good friend of mine was performing a solo. Before she got up to sing, the pastor encouraged all the guests to fill out a visitor card and place it in one of the collection plates that were being passed around. Even though I felt like my privacy was being completely violated, I felt obligated to do it because I was there with my friend and her entire family. I didn’t want them looking at me funny. I didn’t want them being concerned that I was committing the unpardonable sin of not giving out my personal information.
A short time later — I was barely home and changed — the pastor called me up and proceeded to tell me all the wonderful things about his church. He began naming all the reasons why I should want to be associated with it. To be honest, he was really quite pushy about my agreeing to come back. I let him give me the 10 minute pitch and then politely informed him that I would think it over. I hadn’t visited the church to join it. I’d visited because I wanted to be there for my friend. I already had a church. I didn’t want another one! I just wanted to hear my friend sing! And, you know what? I never went back.

Tell me about Henry County...
|
Henry County was named after Patrick Henry, a famous orator during the Revolutionary War and was one of the seventeen counties created from the Creek Indian land cessions of 1821. It is often referred to as the “Mother of Counties,” because much of its land was used to develop the surrounding counties of: Fulton, DeKalb and Clayton.
Today, Henry County is located to the southeast of Atlanta and is made up the following cities: McDonough, Stockbridge, Locust Grove and Hampton. It is one of the fastest growing county’s in the state with over 120,000 residents and climbing.. In recent years, numerous international corporations have flocked to the area, including: Toys-R-Us, Ford Parts Distribution, Nestle’ USA and AT&T. Henry County is really blossoming into a major industrial and retail center with a brand new mall coming to McDonough, Tanger Outlets in Locust Grove and numerous retail giants opening doors throughout the area.
However, Henry County is probably best known for being home to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and Eagle’s Landing Country Club. AMS has been in Henry County since 1959 and attracts people from all over the country for the annual Atlanta 500 Classic. In April of each year, the 18-hole LPGA Chick-fil-A Charity Championship is played.
With vast natural resources and convenient proximity to Atlanta via I-75, the Henry County real estate market has been very steady and numerous planned developments such as: Heron Bay, Hampton Shores and Lake Dow North have sprang up all over the county. Homes generally range from the low $100’s to well over a $1 million. |

Since we’re all about making things easier for people, I thought it would be a pretty good idea to throw up this F.A.Q’s page. FAQ’s Disclaimer: I always try to have a sense of humor about life. You’ll see that in many of my answers to the questions above. Sometimes, you have to decide whether to laugh or to cry about the cards you’re being dealt – especially when the hits just keep on coming. I choose to laugh and enjoy my job as much as possible. Working with your Realtor shouldn’t be like having a root canal without Novocain: scary as heck and terribly painful, causing you to beg for the second that you can hop out of the chair and get as far away from there as possible. Young Griffin Georgia Real Estate Agent continues to receive accolades for high performance

| Jessica Horton, 26, broker and owner of Jessica Horton & Associates is certainly one of Griffin's own Cinderella stories. Born and raised in Spalding County to a blue-collar family, her father works at a glass company and her mother is a waitress at the Lighthouse in Milner. While her high school friends were getting ready to graduate, she was married and preparing to have a baby. Mother of two by the time she was 19, she obtained her GED by the time she was 21 and became a licensed real estate agent at 22. |

| With less than a year in the real estate business, Horton received the "Rookie of the Year" award for the number of homes she sold at the first company she worked for. Just 18 months after she got her license, she felt the need for a change and made a daring move for someone of her age and experience and went to RE/MAX. "I needed a change. RE/MAX provided the type of environment that I was looking for. I was either going to sink or I was going to learn to swim," Horton said. |

| Her gamble paid off, because she closed on just as many homes in three months at RE/MAX as she had in nine months at her previous company. Horton also made the Heart of Georgia Board of Realtors "Million Dollar Club." |

| During her first full year at RE/MAX, she earned the "Top Producer" award at the office and was inducted into RE/MAX's 100% Club. "I remember when I got the award. I was so happy about it but I also just keep thinking how I missed making the Platinum Club by just that much," she said. "I will get it next year," she remembered telling herself. |

| Horton kept that promise, because in 2004 Horton sold over 5.8 million dollars worth of real estate, was Top Producer at her office again and did in fact upgrade her standings at RE/MAX to the highly coveted Platinum Club. |

| But Horton's glass slipper story didn't end there. In April of 2006, just three years after getting her real estate license, she began taking the necessary steps to open her own real estate company. |

| "I will always be grateful to Burt and Tammy (the owners of the previous RE/MAX she worked for) for the opportunity that they gave me. But, I was just at a place in my life where I wanted to really take a long hard look at who I was and what exactly I wanted out of life, for my family and my career. Opening my own office gave me the freedom to grow in the areas that I wanted to grow in, to head down the paths that I wanted to take in life," she said. |

| Obviously, the direction she decided to head in must have been the right one: In 2006 Horton was cast into the national spotlight when Realtor Magazine selected her as one of the top 30 Realtors in the United States under the age of 30 for their annual "30 under 30" article. Horton was the first female real estate agent from Georgia to receive this recognition and had over 20 million dollars in sales. |

| "I can't even begin to tell you what an honor it was. I still get phone calls, letters and e-mails from agents all over the world telling me how my story helped change their lives," she said. |

| In November of the same year, Horton was asked to be a guest speaker at the National Association of Realtors annual conference in New Orleans. "I was so nervous, because the room was completely packed. I was just amazed that people from all over the world wanted to listen to what a girl from Griffin had to say." |

| It seems that a lot of people wanted to listen to what Horton had to say, because since speaking in New Orleans she has been featured in the RE/MAX Times, The Real Estate Buyers Agency Counsel Newsletter, Forbes and several news papers and industry web sites. Horton is also one of the subjects in a book by Daniel McGinn, a reporter from Newsweek. McGinn's book about the real estate market is due Dec. 26. |

| In addition, Horton has a weekly newsletter on real estate topics for home buyers, sellers and other real estate agents. Horton also coaches 27 agents across the country to help them build and grow their own real estate business. It was at their urging that she is currently working on her own book about her life story and experiences while in real estate. |

| When asked what the secret to her success has been, she answers, "God has always looked after me and my family. You've got to have faith that everything is going to be alright. You've got to have faith and also, you need to understand that if you are willing to do more than what you're paid to do, the day will come when you are paid more for what you do. You've got to be willing to go the extra mile, to work the extra hour, to do that extra thing, to promise to do a lot and be willing to deliver even more than what you promise." |

| Horton also credits her mother for her success. "My mother has been a waitress for as long as I can remember. She works for tips. If she doesn't do a good job taking care of her customers then she doesn't get paid. She has to be on time, do a good job, make sure that her customer's glasses don't get empty, make sure they get their meal and that it's exactly what they ordered. She has to anticipate what people need often before they even realize it. It's the same thing with real estate. "If I make it my mission in life to take care of my customers, then they will keep coming back. They won't hesitate to refer me to family, friends and co-workers. I work for tips," Horton said. |

| Horton seems to have learned another valuable lesson from her mother, because she is now offering a complete menu of services that will allow her clients to decide how much they want to spend on selling their homes. |

| When asked about her brand new menu, she says, "People don't all want the same thing. One person might want a filet mignon from a five-star restaurant and another might be in the mood for a hamburger from the drive-thru. It all comes down to preference and what they are willing to pay for. I believe that I should give my clients the opportunity to decide what they want and how much of it they would like. A one-size-fits-all approach is a thing of the past. |

| We live in the age of customization. You can have anything you want just about anyway you want it. Why not let my clients decide what is right for them and their families? They know their own needs better than I do. When they decide what is right for them, it will always be what is right for me also. As a real estate agent, you can have everything that you want out of life if you are just willing to help other people get what they want out of life. So, I am giving people what they want and how they want it," Horton said. |
