About Me:

Century 21 Award, Mission Valley, San Diego, California

I'm a Realtor with the Century 21 Award office in Mission Valley. After spending about 30 years in customer service with Waldenbooks and Borders Books and Music, I decided several years ago that I could help more people with something more significant in their lives than a CD purchase here and a book purchase there. So I made the full-time jump from books and music into real estate. Althought it's always difficult getting started in a new business, especially after being in the same business for 30 years, I successfully made the transition. I attribute that success to the marketing prowess of my partner; my attention to my Client's needs, wants, and goals; and my 30 years in customer service. I figured that if I could work with customers who bought a book, went home and spent two weeks reading it, and then brought it back—with the receipt, dog-eared pages, and 15 spine creases—requesting their money back because they didn't like the book, well, I could probably work with anyone. After all, if one can listen while someone else is talking, one can be successful in just about anything.

Native Californian

I am a native Californian, having been born in Riverside in San Bernardino County. I attended the University of Redlands in Redlands, not far from my home, where I earned both a Bachelor of Piano Performance and a Master of Piano Performance. However, I didn't think I wanted to be a Starving Artist, and that's how I wound up with Waldenbooks and Borders.

I still practice the piano daily and play in chamber music groups in the San Diego area. My partner is a home inspector working throughout Southern California's eleven counties, and we have been together since May 26, 1994. We have an indoor cat named Zoey, a domestic short hair ginger tabby. We adopted her from the El Cajon Animal Shelter on September 20, 2007, after our outdoor black cat, Sophie, was hit and killed by a car.

Needs, wants, and goals

Life is about needs, wants, and goals, some more important than others. If you need to sell, give me a call. If you want to sell or buy, I'm here for you too. If you goal is to someday add real estate to your American dream, let's start now. I can help show you the way. I'm available by phone at 619-729-5701 or email at JimFrimmer@century21award.com. If you just want to discuss music, email me at JLFPianist@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you, meeting you, and helping you.

Availability

I try to make myself available 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Since much of San Diego County still doesn't have good cell phone coverage, the best way to reach me is by email since I'm often out previewing properties or showing properties. If you do call and get voice mail, I should be able to return your call within no more than four hours, depending on the needs of the Clients I am with. I will extend the same courtesy to you when I'm working with you.

Areas of Expertise

Mission Valley, San Diego, California

I specialize in fast-paced living in Mission Valley, specifically the Interstate 8 corridor between Interstate 5 and Interstate 805. I particularly love helping people buy and sell condominiums and townhouses because of the amenities that the complexes have and the very active day and nightlife in the Valley.

There are five major freeways connecting Mission Valley to other parts of the County—Interstates 5, 8, 15, and 805, and State Highway 163—so it's easy to get up and go at any time of the day to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year. For example, a short drive west takes you to San Diego's world-class beaches and Sea World; a 15-60 minute drive north takes you to La Jolla, Quail Botanical Gardens, and the Wild Animal Park; a drive south takes you to Balboa Park, the world-famous San Diego Zoo, downtown San Diego and Petco Park (home of the Padres), San Diego Bay, the airport (Lindbergh Field), Old Town, Coronado Island, and Mexico; and a drive east takes you to Alpine, Julian, and, occasionally during the winter, snow in the mountains.

Mission Valley has experienced significant growth during the last decade, and sometimes the apartments and condominiums seem to have taken over. Many of the newer complexes are gated and have workout facilities, swimming pools, tennis courts, park-like grounds, and shuttle services, and there are many biking, walking, and jogging paths along the San Diego River which runs smack-dab through the center of Mission Valley.

If you do want to spend your days in Mission Valley, is plenty to do: sports and other unique events at Qualcomm Stadium (home of the San Diego Chargers and the host for two major college bowl games, the Poinsettia Bowl and the Holiday Bowl) and major shopping and dining at Fashion Valley, Mission Valley East, Mission Valley West, Hazard Center, Rio Vista, and Fenton Marketplace. With an abundance of free parking and several San Diego Trolley stations, events throughout Mission Valley are diverse and convenient. Fenton Marketplace boasts a new branch of the San Diego library. With its study and meeting areas, open architecture emphasizing natural light, and multiple computers equipped with high-speed Internet access, residents throughout Mission Valley, and even those visiting from other areas of the County, stop to take advantage of its great facilities.

Family with teenagers? The pools, spas, workout rooms, and tennis courts in condominium complexes are great for them and their friends. New graduate with that first job, new wife, and no children? Condominiums make a great starter home, and, again, those amenities can come in handy with your new business associates. Single and just want to hang out and have fun? Mission Valley in San Diego is the place. Walk to work, walk to lunch, walk to the gym, walk to the night life, or just take a leisurely walk along the San Diego River.

Whatever you want, it's in Mission Valley, and when your family and friends come to visit from elsewhere, there's plenty of hotels and you're centrally located. Mission Valley real estate is a rare and desirable location. If you're wanting to move to Mission Valley, call me for all the help you'll need in finding the right place for you. And if you've got a residence for sell, I can help you get the best price in the shortest time. I'm available 24/7 at 619-729-5701. Providing SOLUTIONS for buyers and sellers.

Check out my web site at http://www.missionvalleycondos.info for more detailed information on about 40 condominium complexes in Mission Valley, and if you need a personal introduction to any of them, just give me a call. I'm happy to help.

Testimonials

The following were sent to my broker:

  • "I wish to let you know that I am quite pleased with the service provided by one of your agents. Jim recently sold my condo in Fashion Valley. He appears quite knowledgable concerning issues involving both selling and buying real estate. Through the listing, Jim advsied me concerning needed repairs, improvements, and staging which would facilitate the sale. Jim hel numerous open houses, and each was well-signed and well-staffed. He even attended an HOA meeting in my absence asn asked some pertinent questions of the Board on my behalf. I have already recommended Jim to other residents and will continue to recommend him to anyone needing real estate services from an excellent professional agent.—John Conboy
  • I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the help Jim Frimmer gave me during the selling of my deceased Mother's condominium. I found a flyer with Jim's name on it at the condo shortly after my Mother died and decided to call and discuss the possible sale. He met with me and gave me his thoughts and ideas on what should be done to make the property attractive for a buyer. I met with two other competing agents and it was clear that Jim had an extensive knowledge of the Mission Greens complex, including all of the floor plans, the building itself, and the HOA. I signed papers with Jim on Thursday, and he staged the condo and had an open house by that Sunday. I was quite impressed. With only one more open house, we had two offers, accepted one, and sold the unit. Jim was very professional during the entire process, always kept me informed, and gladly put up with my questions, mentoring me through the sometimes frustrating process. I would gladly recommend him to anyone that may be considering either buying or selling property.—Joseph Irwin

The following were sent directly to me:

  • Thank you for your hard work in selling the condo. It was important for me to find someone intelligent, well-versed on the minutia of real estate transactions, and aggressive. Not all agents out there know their stuff, but you do. I am very pleased and will recommend you to friends in the SAn Diego area.—Tony Melucci
  • How do we say thank you enough for all the work you put into seling our house and finding just the perfect condo for us? We are so happy here. You are a very, very special person, Jim.—Eric and Hilary Hilsen
