Academics to Navy Veteran to a Real Estate Sales Specialist
After completing high school Jim enlisted in the US Navy, which included a tour spent in Viet Nam. After being Honorably Discharged Jim entered the world of banking and continued his college education at Bentley College and Bryant College evening classes . His career in finance began at the assistant manager level and he worked his way into consumer credit management. From the banking industry he went into the field of electrical construction and maintenance. As Vice President of New Business Development, Jim was instrumental in growing a small electrical contracting company into a local resource that also expanded into power line construction. Jim leveraged that experience and entered the fledgling cable TV industry. He first served as the Director of Engineering for a small AM radio station that also provided cable TV services and then was appointed Director of Plant Operations for a major telecommunications provider serving Rhode Island and a portion of Connecticut. Jim also owned and operated a fine dining restaurant in Providence RI that was recognized with several awards of distinction including best new restaurant in Rhode Island. After returning to the Telecommunications Industry, Jim left the engineering operations side and spent several years in marketing and sales which honed the skills he uses with precision in the world of buying and selling real estate.

We worked with Mr. Kelly for almost two years to find a home in the Low Country. This home is our retirement dream home. Mr. Kelly contacted us after we made an internet inquiry regarding retirement opportunities in Charleston. He was professional and did not push us in the early stages of our search. This is one reason we followed up with Mr. Kelly once we were ready to make the move. The ability to explain all the fine points of the paperwork involved in formulating contracts and contingency offers so that clients can fully understand the legalities of a document is difficult, but very easy for Jim. This is another one of his strengths. He helped with mortgage issues and insurance options. He even formulated a list of phone numbers of utilities and tax offices we needed to contact. He was always willing to help inspectors and insurance agents get access to the house. The only thing he did not do for us was to move our household goods!
