About Us

We are a husband and wife team with over 40 years of combined real estate experience - as agents for others, and as investors in commercial and residential property as well as experience with the vacation rental market as owners of cabin rentals.  We've been residents of the area since the mid-90s, and have owned property here since the 1960s.  We raised a child in West Jefferson, and bring the passion that converts always bring.  We left the Piedmont of North Carolina (Charlotte and Lake Norman) after many years, and haven't looked back.

Jack has been a real estate investor in the Charlotte and Mooresville areas since 1964, when he moved there from Memphis, with a short period of time in New York City.  He spent many years in outside sales in hospital sales, and discovered the High  Country when calling on hospitals in this area.  He built his first home here in the 1980s.   Michelle discovered the Ashe County area just after her first introduction to North Carolina in the early 1980s.  When Jack proposed they move to the mountains, she was totally game.

Here you have a picture of downtown West Jefferson t oday, the site of our annual Novmer holiday parade (pictured) as well as our Annual Christmas in July Festival of Art and Music.  A pedestrian friendly town with shops, galleries and restaurants, we offer a wide variety of entertainment.  Ashe County and the surrounding counties have many festivals throughout the year - music, art and local products are the attractions.

Ashe County Real Estate - About our Firm

We have spent our entire Ashe County real estate careers with Ashe High Country Realty, located in downtown West Jefferson.  We joined the firm in 2001 and in 2007 Michelle became the Broker-in-Charge, working closely with owner Vivian Miller, who focuses on marketing.  We have a team of 15 agents, and all together we have about 150 years of real estate experience in our offices.  Our company remains #1 in the Ashe County real estate market, with less days on the market than the MLS average, and an average sold price per listing higher than the MLS average.
