Description:I'm a Certified Master Inspector, author of 3 building-related books and InterNACHI inspection course author. I have unique, top-notch credentials reflected in the quality of my inspection reports.

About Peak to Prairie

Peak to Prairie is a one-man shop. I perform inspections personally and provide detailed, impartial, accurate yet easy-to-read inspection reports. I maintain a relaxed, professional demeanor and because of my extensive background in building and as an author, I'm able to explain clearly, calmly and accurately the problems I find along with their solutions.

In pursuing solutions outside my areas of expertise I make recommendations starting with the least intrusive, least expensive methods. By knowing when to recommend a foundation repair contractor and when to recommend a structural engineer I can often save my client a significant amount money and increase the chances for a successful transaction.

I'm not in competition with the many newcomers to the home inspection business. I've already invested much time, energy and money in my professional education and equipment. I'm certified through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI).

Areas of Expertise

In addition to extensive credentials which include the Certified Master Inspector designation held by only 12 other inspectors in Colorado, I've had three building-related books published. I'm also the author of InterNACHI's free, comprehensive, online Green Building course and am in the process of writing a Log home Inspection course which will also be available on their website. Prior to founding Peak to Prairie in 2001, I had 30 years experience in residential and light commercial building.

Although the majority of homes I inspect are conventional, I've developed methods for inspecting home types for which there are no training courses available to qualify inspectors. Among these are log, straw bale and earthen homes. Knowledgeable inspectors who have not done the research or had direct building experience with these homes should be disclaiming the logs in log homes and the walls in strawbale homes. This means that they'll refuse responsibility for information about the condition of these parts of the home.

In addition to the General Home Inspection, I offer 23 other inspections including Radon, one-year warranty, new construction, well, septic system and more...

I'm comfortable doing large, multi-million dollar homes and can provide additional inspectors or specialists as the situation requires. I retain all responsibility for inspection coordination.

I am also one of a small community of inspectors offering inspections abroad. I will inspect homes anywhere in the world deemed safe for travel by the U.S. Department of State.
