Description
I love finding new ways to market properties, reach clients, prospect, and sell homes! KathySchowe.com LiveTheDesertLife.com SchoweProperties.com! 760-333-8886

Where did you come from?

I grew up in New Mexico and graduated with a degree in Business/Marketing at Texas Tech University.  While at Texas Tech, I played on the women's golf team and then followed that dream to California to play professional golf.  That road led me to the golf-rich Coachella Valley-- and I have been here since 1989.  I met my husband, Bob in the desert-- at the Nest-- (another story)  and we split time in the desert with time in Pasadena, CA.

Shortly after joining La Quinta Country Club in 2000, the Schowes relocated to the desert full time.  I  began pursuing my Real Estate career and now have  been working in the Real Estate field for over 4 years.  Living full time in La Quinta, working in Old Town, and focusing on the La Quinta golf properties give me an edge in this competitive market.  Come visit us at La Quinta Country Club and we will show you around--maybe even get in nine holes!

What Do You Know?

I have lived in the desert area for over 20 years and have been lucky enough to play almost all the golf courses here-- I am an expert at matching a client with a club-- or development.  Each community within the valley has its own special niche-- and through years of living the desert life--- I have come to know what each area 'feels' like.  Some people are looking for very social clubs with many activities throughout the season... others just want a "golf" club without all the extras.  By learning about you and your family, I can steer you in the right direction-- so you can find-- not only the home of your dreams, but the community that will keep you happy there!

What Neighborhoods Do You Know?

Welcome
to La Quinta Country Club

Founded in 1959, La Quinta Country Club members enjoy a rich heritage other clubs only dream of possessing. Most people are drawn here by golf and quickly fall in love with the beautiful desert ambiance and camaraderie among members. Although the spectacular golf and weather are the initial attraction to our club, genuine respect and interest in each other is the foundation that binds our special membership.

Today, La Quinta Country Club has embarked on its newest chapter, the new Santa Barbara style clubhouse which opened the Fall of 2009. The new clubhouse is stately, sophisticated and inviting, qualities that are expressions of who we are as a club.

The Golf

Presidents Eisenhower and Ford favored it. The pros rave about it. And, it has been a Bob Hope Classic course since 1964. Our 18 is truly a Championship course. It is in the Coachella Valley’s top five while its’ greens are “among the best on tour”. I believe it is the finest course in the desert!

La Quinta Country Club Homes

There are approximately 515 homes that either surround La Quinta Country Club's golf course or neighbor the course. Home prices range from $250,000 to $3,000,000 including seasonal rentals.

History of La Quinta

LA QUinTA's Rich History

The ancient Salton Sea, the Cahuillas, the ranches, the Bradshaw Trail, the La Quinta Hotel, celebrities, the Desert Club, PGA West…are all part of La Quinta’s rich history. We invite you explore La Quinta and discover why it’s such a special place.

La Quinta is nearly surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains and is located on the floor of the Coachella Valley.  When the floor of the valley began to sink, it was covered by the Pacific Ocean.  Over a period of hundreds of years, the Colorado River flowed into the Gulf of California and formed a large delta fan.  Silt basin deposts grew higher and wider until the basin was cut-off from the ocean, while the mountains on both sides grew higher.  When the Colorado River changed its course five hundred years ago, the east Coachella Valley flooded creating the freshwater Lake Cahuilla.  Today you can still see the lake's water line today along the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

The Desert Cahuilla Indians, hunters and gatherers, were the first ancestors of the La Quinta area.  They were one of a few Native American tribes who dug wells.  The Cahuilla Indians still exist today.

The first scheduled trains began operating between Los Angeles and Indio in 1876, as the Indio area had a plentiful water supply. Farmers were able to get their vegetables, melon, citrus and date crops to metropolitan areas.  La Quinta's climate was ideal for growing exotic dates, sweet corn, Bermuda onions and Thompson seedless grapes.

As travel to the desert became easier, Los Angeles residents began making trips to the area.  When La Quinta incorporated in 1982, it was named for the La Quinta Resort which had been established in 1926.

The City of La Quinta is booming with a growing population, as well as a large seasonal population of "snow birds."   There are retail stores along Highway 111 and Washington Street, the Old Town Village area with boutique shops and restaurants, hotels, and a variety of recreational and cultural activities.

La Quinta...America's Ultimate Golf Destination

When the Robb Report named La Quinta "America's ultimate golfing destination," the City was thrust into the international spotlight being recognized as the true golf mecca that it is. Robb Report's editors selected La Quinta from an extensive list of cities because of the seemingly endless options for passionate golfers.

"Host City" for the Bob Hope Classic, La Quinta has been called "the golf capital of the world" with a variety of spectacular courses open to the public. The City's SilverRock Resort – featuring the Arnold Palmer Classic Course – is a pro favorite and although it is no longer in the Bob Hope rotation-- it is a great place for visitors and locals to get a true taste of desert golf.

The course offers 7,578 challenging yards of golf, sprawling over 200 acres with massive native bunkers and stunning water features set against the backdrop and natural beauty of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The Clubhouse, situated in the rocky outcroppings, is a charming renovation of the former working-ranch hacienda, built by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ahmanson of Home Savings & Loan renown.
