About me:

My husband and I have lived in a lot of places. When we finally got the opportunity to choose where we wanted to live, we began our search in Arizona. We ended it in Western NC.  Why?

The weather--A four seasons climate. By the time you tire of the current season, it's time for it to change!

•The  mountains--What a luxury to start each day with gorgeous views!

•The tranquility of country life with shopping/cultural offerings reasonably close by.

•As newcomers, we did not want to be treated like outsiders.  There are many newcomers here.

•And last but also important, we wanted to get value for our financial investment.  

We found it all here in Western NC.

I don't forget that the process of selling and of buying is both exciting and stressful.  Remembering my own experiences, whether they were seamless or awful, helps me work hard to insure that my clients have a hassle-free experience.

My education is statistics and analysis, and marketing.  I understand the workings of the marketplace and how to get from listing to SOLD!  I believe that innovation is key and I am always looking for new ideas and tools to promote my listings.  I started real estate in appraisal, which is another plus for my clients.

Let me start by saying that rarely (and I do mean rarely) will I recommend a person or a service to others, perhaps, because rarely is my experience favorable enough to feel "safe" in doing so. Several months ago, we had the occasion to be in the market for a second/vacation/possible rental property in the Lake Lure area. After doing some research, we contacted "Lake Guys" and were immediately referred to Joelle van den Berg. From that moment on Joelle kept in constant contact with us and e-mailed us an entire portfolio of listings in the area (we live in Fla. and had never even been to Lake Lure). By process of elimination and inquiries from Joelle we narrowed down the field. My brother owned a property in Lake Lure and as I had been a Realtor, he wanted me to interview listing agents and give him a short list of potentials. I spoke to a number of Realtors and gave him a list of three that I thought talked the right talk, and from all indications could walk the walk. Even though Joelle was not the chosen Realtor, she brought buyers through as I saw her name on the follow up list for showings several times. Well, we started too high and the chosen realtor was a little late on follow up and did not even think we should reduce the price when I made the suggestion.

The listing expired and we were into the summer season at this point. We gave the listing to Joelle and she was candid and even though some of her comments where not exactly what we wanted to hear, we knew she was giving us her honest professional opinion. When she reviewed her marketing plan she not only talked price,she made suggestions for staging and let us know what she planned to do to get our property sold. We gave the listing to Joelle and she was very aggressive and engaged in her marketing efforts. We were soon under contract and she even pushed to get the deal closed in just a little more than 30 days over the July 4th holiday so that we could close negotiations on a 1031 exchange property we had found in Colorado.
