I am writing this letter of recommendation about Marc Van Steyn. As a first time home owner, I could not have asked for a more patient, flexible, committed, personable, and knowledgeable realtor. Marc helped me understand the different neighborhoods in and around Columbus and understood the type of neighborhood and home I was looking for in Columbus.
I moved to the Columbus area in mid-January. I relocated to Ohio from Virginia with my job and had a short window of time to search and move into a house. Marc was able to give up his entire weekends to help me search. He was also available on short notice during the week. I had a lot of questions through the home owning experience and Marc was incredibly patient whenever I changed my mind or when I became frustrated with the process. My parents helped me with the down payment so they were very involved with the process too. He took his time to answer their questions and help them feel at ease which is very difficult to do with my parents! He showed me countless homes in every neighborhood and suburb in Columbus until I found the "one." He even supplied me with information on the utility companies and someone to clean my gutters. I know I can call him at any time in the future to ask him a question and he will help me.

I would like to share the wonderful experience we had relocating to the Columbus area having Marc Van Steyn as our realtor.
I should first explain that I was very emotional about the move and loved the house and yard I had to leave. Looking back, I know that Marc was probably tired of hearing me compare every house he showed me to the house we were leaving; however, he couldn't have been more understanding and empathetic.
Our experience with Marc was quite extensive as it took us a year and two contracts on our house in Edinboro, PA to finally complete the move. Marc spent time getting to know our likes and dislikes and exactly what we wanted from our next home, neighborhood, and school district as we have three small boys. He set us up in his online system and listed all of the criteria that we wanted our next home to meet. Anytime a house came on the market that met our criteria, it was sent to me via email. This tool was priceless for me as I was doing a major portion of house hunting from three and a half hours away. I would send Marc the houses I thought I might like. He would promptly provide me with additional information about the house and we would determine whether or not it was worth viewing.
My husband was staying with a friend in the Columbus area. We would compile several houses once a week for Marc to walk him through. When I was able to come to Columbus to visit, Marc always made himself available to me whether it was in the morning, evening, on a weekend, or even over a holiday. We would go through as many houses as we could in the short amount of time I had available.
We were not familiar with the Columbus area at all, so for every showing, Marc would pick us up wherever we were and drive us to the houses we were viewing. Marc did not hesitate to make sure we had whatever we needed to make this process a positive and exciting one. He took the time to get to know us so well that we felt like he knew exactly what we wanted. We welcomed his advice and trusted his opinions as he is thoroughly knowledgeable about Columbus and the surrounding areas. We were right in doing so as he helped us to find the perfect home in the perfect neighborhood!
Marc Van Steyn was more than just our realtor. He became our friend. We have been in our new home for a little over a year now and that friendship still continues. I just wanted to let you know how wonderful of an experience we had with Remax Premier Choice. Marc Van Steyn was our realtor. We had met Marc for the first time when he came to our house to explain how the whole system of selling our condo would work. He answered all of our questions and we understood things clearly. Marc was very friendly and open with us. Marc also helped us prepare our condo to sell. He came over and showed us all the items that should be removed and what needed to be updated throughout the condo. This was fabulous and I believe to this day that is why our condo sold within 3 months.
Marc is an excellent realtor. Marc almost always answered our phone calls and if he didn't he would always call back within an hour or so. Marc would also call each week to check up on us and see how things were going with selling our condo. He always made sure to stay on top of things. He would always update us on the person(s) who would come through our condo and what they had to say. Marc was definitely working hard for us and helping us in any way to sell our condo. We really appreciated everything and really felt like he cared for us.
As we started to look for houses, Marc was very honest and truthful. Marc would set the houses up for us and many times on a short notice. He did great with this. Sometimes he would set up a house we weren't expecting, which was a nice surprise as well. Marc was very honest about the houses we went through. If we would ask him a question concerning the house he would always give us an honest answer. This is what you want in a realtor. Honesty is the best! As people look for houses we need help and guidance and this is what Marc did for us. We found a great house with Marc and we went through a rough time with our financing. We had even already worked out the contract. We told Marc about our situation close to the last minute. I had exhausted all possibilities. He was able to get us more time in the contract to work out our financial situation. He also was able to recommend a mortgage company. We called this mortgage company and it all worked out. Without Marc suggesting this company we wouldn't have been able to purchase this house. We can't thank him enough for this!
The company itself was wonderful as well. Marc was not able to attend our closing of our new house, but we were well taken care of by Charlotte Van Steyn. It went very well and Marc even though out of town made sure things were okay and ready to go for us for our big day.
We couldn't have asked for a better realtor. He was helpful in all the ways possible. He made us feel like he cared about us. He is the best realtor in OHIO.
