Real Estate and Visitors Guide to Sonoma and Napa Valley California including Sonoma, Petaluma, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Kenwood, Glen Ellen, Napa CA. Vineyards, land, ranches and luxury homes for sale
Buying a Vineyard in Napa Valley and Sonoma Wine Countryection t
Welcome to Wine Country Real Estate! People relate wonderful wine with the region that I am blessed to live in, and we focus on vineyards, land, ranches and homes for sale in the Napa Valley / Sonoma California real estate market.
This region is full of beautiful productive vineyards, wonderful homes that were once owned by great American Families, and a lifestyle that can only be found in this stunning California location.
I am uniquely connected to this land. I rely each day on my lifelong journey in the "wine culture." I worked for many years in Agriculture Lending, and then served as the "head bean counter" (CFO) of a large Winery... but more important, perhaps, is my connection to Napa and Sonoma Valley through my wife Pat, her family, and their high qualify grapes at Leveroni Vinyard.
Besides being an engaging, authentic and involved business owner with deep roots in this land... my wife, Pat is a great cook! (Cooking is one of my favorite parts of the California Wine Country Lifestyle!) In addition to my extensive, and varied background in the "business" of owning a Vineyard, I'm a Sonoma County homeowner, Investor, and proud parent of the four wonderful children we've raised here.
I also work with people looking for a second home or vacation home in San Francisco! I have access to all of the San Francisco Real Estate Data, and I'm just a few miles away in beautiful Wine Country. A vacation home in San Francisco could be a Condo near the water - or it could be a Vineyard in Napa Valley!
When I meet with buyers interested in purchasing a Vineyard in Sonoma County, Napa, Petaluma, RussianRiver, or Alexander Valley we often talk about the property, the site, the sun and what's in the bottle that comes from the fruit grown on that land. We also talk about the "Generational Investment" that families make by purchasing that particular vineyard... many of the conversations about a vineyard can sound like a "Who's Who" list! I recently sold a property that was originally part of the Hearst Estate, and they would enjoy summers on the "farm." It was then sold to the Columbus Salame family which grew and owned it for another 70 years.
Purchasing a vineyard in the Sonoma and Napa Valley area is an investment of time and energy. I'm a "numbers" guy. When I work with Investors, Buyers and Sellers we carefully review vineyard and country property sales and discuss sales broken down by planted and plantable ground on a price per acre basis for various appellations and geographic locations.
For some Investors though, it's a legacy of more than just the grapes, and the harvest. I often talk to buyers who tell me that they are interested in owning a vineyard because they want to have a place to teach the value of working on the farm to their children and grandchildren. It's a generational connection and commitment.
Pinot Noir, , Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfindel, Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Syrah, Shiraz and Petite Verdot are only a few of the 50 different grape varieties that flourish in this region. We refer to the six counties surrounding Napa Valley and Sonoma as the North Coast AVA or Appellation. There are wine tastings and activities daily (Click Here for a Calender of Events for Sonoma Valley Vintners, click here for a Calender of Events for Napa Valley Vintners)

Want to know more about the Sonoma Valley Market trends? With today's real estate market, many people are hyper focused on trends and market reports to determine if this is the right time to buy. A Market Report will never really tell you the whole picture, because it's just based upon recent sales activities. It doesn't tell you if a home was upgraded, if that property or an appellation hit a "cold summer" or if it was particularly dry. I know the history of the properties going on the market, the history of their vineyards AND the overall trend for that type of property in that particular market.
"Thank you very much for the valuable information. You have exceeded my expectations. Your kindness and your generosity of spirit is incredible and admirable!"
"Mark facilitated the purchase of a rental for us as part of a 1031 exchange. After listening to our needs he went out and identified several properties, ranging from commercial to single family residences before we made our final decision for purchase of a single family residence. He oversaw the entire process, solved problems along the way and closed in a timely period."

“Throughout the long eleven month process, from negotiations through inspections and distillation of the preliminary title report for purchase of our vineyard and winery development property, Mark's attention was on us, always keeping our best interest in mind. I have complete trust and confidence in Mark.”

"Mark Stornetta is simply the best real-estate agent we have ever encountered. He was scrupulously attentive in understanding our needs. He was patient, diligent, creative when necessary, always caring, and a joy to work with. Mark is a rare and special person, who we look forward to calling friend."
Rosemarie and Steve Marks
"For the many years Mark worked with us here at Gundlach Bundschu, Mark brought invaluable insight to our estate vineyard operation. He continues to be a valuable resource to this day, most recently assisting us in the analysis for purchase of land for vineyard development . A former vineyard lender and winery financial executive with extensive grape purchasing and estate vineyard management experience, Mark’s view of the vineyard land business is unique in my experience. His is truly a 360 degree perspective. Add that to his diligence, focus and, most importantly, his integrity, and one would be hard pressed to find better guide through the world of vineyard real estate."
Gundlach Bundschu Winery, fifth generation
"Mark represented our family as we sold a beloved family property in Healdsburg. Under normal conditions, this property came with many difficulties including six separate owners, difficult neighbors, a creative road agreement, and lack of utilties. Add to that the disappointing economic situation between 2008 and 2010 -- this listing spanned 27 months. Mark represented us with good humor, patience, wise counsel, and friendship. We increasingly trusted his judgment and integrity -- and the family is pleased with the final outcome of the sale. We wholeheartedly recommend Mark to anyone looking for an honest man who will work hard and work smart for both buyer and seller."
