About Me
I love first time home buyers! I can still remember when I didn't understand what on earth a "point" was. I love the excitement, the adventure, and even working through the anxiety that goes into a first home purchase.
I got my license just as the housing market was crashing. Friends thought I was crazy. Besides, they would say, "you're not the salesperson type." And I worried about that during my first year. But soon I came to realize that a lot of people don't want to work with a "salesperson type." They aren't buying a car - they're looking for a place to live.
All buyers need a Realtor they can trust, who listens to them, and who knows how to get them through the process.
Sellers need someone who understands buyers, and where today's buyers are looking. Their Realtor needs to be smart, and know how market their home in an environment where over 90 percent of home buyers begin their search online.
It quickly came to me that real estate is less about sales and more about service. Hence the "My Home Matchmaker" name - it has always fascinated me how different people's needs are and how there isn't one "dream home" (including HGTV's!).
I specialize where I live and work, because that's the area I know the best. I was born in Bethesda before it was chic. We had milk delivered and a laundry truck picked up my dad's shirts because there weren't any shops or services in "far out Bethesda." (Yes, I'm telling you I'm old!) And now I live in Olney, which -- if Bethesda was far out -- used to be The Country. I love me a Cape Cod, and I've come to fully appreciate the wisdom and grace of a rambler, especially as boomers come into their 60s. But I completely get the buyer who wants a new home that they can watch going up from timber to Tyvek to a wreath on the door.
At our office in North Potomac/Rockville, many agents work as far out as Frederick, Carroll and Washington counties. I work all of Montgomery but I know a thing or two about Howard County and Frederick as well.
And I love Active Rain! What a great source for ideas, keeping up, and sharing knowledge. It's a must-have tool for Realtors today.
