- Description
- I've set up this blog as a "go to" blog for current market conditions in the Corvallis, Oregon housing market with a special emphasis on stories you're not hearing or reading about in the news.
About Me
A Little Bit About Myself
Personal Side
I am a native born Oregonian. Grew up in Salem, lived in Bend a couple of times (worked at Mt. Bachelor when we had just 6 lifts!), spent time off and on in various parts of Alaska and went to school in Eugene where I obtained a BS degree in Geography. After college I spent a few months in Taiwan, then moved back to Alaska in 1987. While there I also was one of the first visitors to the Russian Far East. In 1994 I moved back down to the "lower 48" and took up residence in Corvallis. During this time I logged over 9,000 miles running around the streets of Corvallis in preparation of the seven marathons I ran culminating with Boston in 2001. I've siezed opportunities to hike hundreds of miles in the Cascades climbing most of our sizable mountains and have flyfished for thousands of trout who appreciated being thrown back so I could play with them again sometime.
All the adventures aside the most import components to my life are my wife and three great kids! Christy has put up with me for 30 years and I'm plotting another 30. Kids are a delight to watch growing up and we are just a short ways off from being "empty nesters". What will I do with the time?
Business Side
As Real Estate professionals we can earn designations. I am one of the 5% of Realtors nationwide that has obtained the Certified Residential Specialist designation.
I am an instuctor with Willamette Neighborhood Housing Service which is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to first time home buyers who earn less than 80% of the average Benton County income.
I also am a board member with Benton County Habitat for Humanity and am the chair person for our Family Support Committee.
Areas of Expertise
Having personally gone through the Willamette Neighborhood Housing Service program to purchase a home and staying with them as an instrutor, I have had the pleasure of working with many first timers. I spend a lot of time with these types of buyers educating them about the many different stages of buying a home. I feel the more my clients know of what's ahead the smoother the experience will be for all of us.
Also, being a college town, I do quite a bit of business with investors buying up homes near Oregon State University. Many are parents purchasing a home for their kids to live in for a few years while they attend classes. Quite a few of my customers are investors doing IRS 1031 exchanges which allows them to defer paying taxes on capitol gains from the sale of one investment property if they purchase another property with the proceeds of the sale.
My Certified Residential Specialist courses have given me the tools to market a home in the best possible way. All my listings are posted on the following websites: Willamette Valley Multiple Listing Service, Coldwell Banker, Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers, Realtor. com, all other real estate offices' web sites who participate in the IDX program (Internet Data Exchange), Truelia.com, JustSnooping. com, and my favorite: markfullwiler.com. Each listing is uploaded with 9 pictures (where allowed) and a virtual tour. I also advertise in the Gazette Times, Democrat Herald and Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers "Buyer's Guide".
Testimonials
Well, one word comes prominently to mind when considering Mark Fullwiler's character: integrity. Mark's principles, values, beliefs, and conduct have been constant in the wide range of situations that I've observed him. Integrity also implies honesty and that is also Mark. In no instance, ever, have I had the slightest sense of dishonesty either towards himself, towards others, or in dealing with challenging circumstances. His honesty on rare occasion could be brutal, but I found that such honesty was refreshing and indeed needed.
Ron Russell, co-worker since 1987
I have seen Mark in many types of environments and have witnessed how he responds to challenges up close. He is best described as a steady performer; that is whatever problem he tackles, he stays with it until there is a solution. He is well organized and a well- prepared person. He is very thoughtful and a good listener. In conversation, he is assertive but not pushy. He likes people; he readily receives others and is easily approachable.
Bill Croco, co-worker since 1994
Being over 900 miles away could have caused a lot of problems putting this purchase together. I was on a very tight schedule with the sale of my home in California, my retirement, and finding a place to purchase in Oregon. Mark went way above and beyond the call.
Steve Riggen, buyer
Mark was extremely responsive to our needs. When we needed a contractor to make some buyer- requested repairs, he found one for us quickly and made all the arrangements, checking with us each step of the way. When some papers needed to be signed and we couldn't make it to the office, he came to us. We highly recommend Mark.
Daniel Forman, seller
Mark was very helpful and attentive during our house buying process. Since this was our first house, we were very nervous when making the offer and signing all the paper work. Mark was supportive and comforting and reassured us about this big decision. Our experience with Mark has been great. He made us feel comfortable and always had a smile and a joke to keep things low key.
Amanda Robillard, buyer
To our delight, from the moment we shook hands with Mark, we knew we were working with someone we could trust. There was never a sense of being "sold to". On the contrary, Mark was particularly aggressive in determining our needs and wants, and surprisingly patient in waiting for our perfect home to show up on the market. Mark gave us sound input on what to offer, when and when not to offer, and gave particular fatherly consideration to the fact that this home was to house our daughter during her first year at OSU. We will be happy to refer Mark Fullwiler to our friends and associates.

Mark was great to work with! Even though it was a quick purchase, Mark knew what we were looking for and showed us a house that was just what we wanted! It came on the market that morning and we had it that afternoon. We are very pleased with Mark and would highly recommend him as a great Realtor®.
