Welcome to South Central Virginia:
The Central Virginia real estate market is located in the area known as the Tri-Cities and centered on the Appomattox River about 25 miles south of Richmond. The Tri-City area includes the three independent cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell, and portions of the adjoining counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, and Prince George. Other communities located in the Tri-Cities include the Town of Chester and Fort Lee Military Base.
In over two decades as a Central Virginia Real Estate agent and an Associate Broker; I’ve come to find a healthy balance. I am passionate about what I do, but am just as passionate (and even more so) about my family! In a world of fast-paced, non-stop living and a very competitive line of work; I’ve found the way to be the best at what I do is to stop.
Now that may sound counter-cultural, but my personal philosophy is to provide real service to my clients. I take the time to stop and truly listen to each of my clients needs. I use my experience and expertise to determine the best course of action for their specific situation. Whether a client is concerned about the sale of their home, or are a first time home buyer; I want to ensure each step of the process is communicated in a clear way, and that we’re all on the same page. I don’t want to provide a generic answer, but a solution that is customized for each client.
My professional balance is found in my foundational support system: my family. I am blessed to have married my wife Lisa in 1981, and to have two great children Andrew and Ashley. I know that at the end of the day, I’ll have their love and support and that makes what I do even more rewarding. Although being in real estate means being on call nearly 24/7; I’ve discovered that taking moments to stop and spend quality time with my family is vital to my personal and professional success! Throughout the years, I’ve been involved with coaching various sports for my son and daughter. We’ve also placed a priority on family vacations as that time gives us all an opportunity to reconnect and refresh! Of course, behind many great families is a dog. Ours happens to be a Maltese named Chester; whom has seemed to be the missing link that completed the May family!
Because I’ve found a healthy balance; my professional life has flourished. I have worked hard to receive designations that allow me to be more effective in serving my clients. I also am involved with various Real Estate Associations that give me the opportunity for endless resources and the latest in cutting edge technology and real estate practices. My continual education and forward thinking on real estate keeps me in tune with the industry and provides me with the skills to offer the service that my clients deserve.
Another asset for my clients is my local experience. I was born in Dinwiddie County and haven’t moved since! My knowledge of the area, its neighborhoods, communities and what they have to offer is a key element in matching clients up with the home of their dreams. It also allows me to have an excellent handle on what sellers in the area can anticipate, and I can clearly communicate appropriate expectations to them. I’ve also found my interest in buying homes, renovating them and renting them out gives me a chance to see all sides of real estate. I truly believe that real estate is a savvy investment and enjoy helping my clients experience this personal financial venture as they buy or sell a home in Central Virginia.
