Life really is great – even when it’s not good to us, it’s much better than the alternative…
Real Estate sales is one of the most rewarding careers I have ever been exposed to. In my life, I have gained a lot of various experiences that have helped form who I am and what I have to offer my clients and those who associate with me.
Because of changes in my life – primarily my business affiliations and my desire to succeed on my own, I have had to look close and hard at all aspects of my life.As a result, I have repackaged my self as the ABC Real Estate Group, as a part of Allison James Estates and Homes.
ABC is symbolic to many as the very beginning or the very basic steps at something new.Yes, there is truth to this and in many ways appropriate.However I would like to redefine ABC to represent a principal in my life and that is training.I thrive on learning new topics as well as passing on my knowledge to those around me.So, for me…A..B…C…means to ALWAYS BE COUNCELING!
By understanding the ABC’s of my life I am able to build and grow my business.Please take a look at the ABC’s of my life and better understand who I am as a God fearing man, a husband, father and business man.
ARMY – I spent 10 years in the US Army as a combatant in the cold war, with 6 years of service in Europe during the 1970’s – the very peak of world tension.Here, as a young man, I learned what service and loyalty is all about.
BUM – Yes, there was a time when I was a bum – not homeless and penniless, jut a bum who did not take life very seriously.I liked to play more than I liked to work.Never thought it was a crime.I enjoyed life with my motorcycle and did into believe there could have been anything better in life than crashing a Led Zeppelin concert (California Jam – 1974 first of 4 times I saw these idols of my youth).
COLLECTIONS – After 10 years in the service and I finally believed that life after 30 could somehow be meaningful I entered a 12 year journey in the Collection Agency industry; learning more about people than I ever wanted to.I also learned about running and owning my own business.The first business I ever owned was Oasis Financial which after just 2 years I successfully sold to a larger and more established agency.I was poised to do the same with Allegiance Financial in 1992 when the LA Riots destroyed everything I had and left me ruined…but only for a short time, because nothing can ruin me – but me.
DESIRE- My desire to reinvent myself took me down several paths.Some of which seemed like a complete waste of my talents at the time and others seemed to be beyond ambitious.Regardless of what I did, I grew and added valuable experience to my own vault of knowledge.
EVERYTHING – Everything in life matters.I learned that when we make decisions we are taking a path that precludes the alternative.It was easy to think that we could always go back if this didn’t work out and do that later – but it will never be the same as the timing of the alternative had other factors that would be totally out of our control and therefore creating a completely different outcome than had we taken the alternative the first time.There is never ‘going back’.
FAMILY – An important concept of society going back to the earliest Biblical accounts and recorded history.Recently traditional Family principals have come under attack turning it into an equality issue.I strongly disagree with the attacks and do believe that the family is the nucleus of society.I have made my mistakes with my own as I am sure most of us have – but at the end of the day, family is family and blood is thicker than water.
GOD – The most powerful force in my life is my faith.God is, after all, responsible for every breath I take and every possession I own.Once I finally surrendered my life to Him, I have never been more complete as a man.

INDIVIDUAL – We all like to think that out of the hundreds of millions of our fellow countrymen and billions who occupy this planet with us that we are somehow unique individuals…and I am no different.Certainly anyone who knows me well knows that I do not fit into very many molds.I thrive when I am “outside the box” looking for solutions – always looking to make things a little bit better and a little bit more efficient.
JESUS – June 9, 2000 is the day that I was “Born Again” and accepted Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior.-

LOVE – Love has not always been easy for me.I know I’ve tried more than I should have, but I always remained in pursuit of true love, finally finding the true love of my life in 1995, on the Internet, of all places.As Saint Augustine is credited with saying, it is “Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all”.Today my wife is on home hospice care having a very tough battle with her cancer.Yes, I know she is destined to a better place than I can ever give her and yes, I will miss her when she leaves this world, but to have loved it the best gift she could have ever given me.Everything before this was just companionship, but now I know what true love really is.
MONEY - Certainly there are many lessons I can share here.Most will begin with the way my mom used to start so many of her conversations “Do as I say and not as I do”.Needless to say, there have been more than one mistake made in my life – just like all mistakes, I am now a better person for them, because they have me exactly where AI am suppose to be right now.
NAME – A man is born to carry on the family name and that name has it’s own reputation from generation to generation.There are those who take great pride in their ancestors – former presidents, royalty, and entertainers.It’s amazing how many people make the headline when they do something very ordinary, just because they are related to or in the lineage of someone from history.In business, a name is just as important.What starts off today as a small enterprise may someday become a household word.
OCCHI – My name.It is Italian for EYES and the “C’s” are pronounced hard, like the K Sound.I may well be the last of my family line as I have no sons, no brothers and no uncles from my father’s blood line.Anything before my paternal grandparents is lost in Italian history as my father migrated here in 1938 – making me the son of an immigrant and first generation American.
PUPPIES – With my own kids long grown and moved away I have 4 puppies (OK, they are grown dogs – but in my house they are collectively known as the Puppies) who keep my wife and I constant company and companionship.We have a pair of Golden Retrievers who bred twice and supplied many of our friends with the same love that our Golden’s bring us.We also have a liver colored (brown) Dalmatian and a BIG male German Sheppard.And guess what, they are all indoor dogs – two of them even sleep in our bed with us every night.

REAL ESTATE – The business that drives the machine and something that I have developed a passion for – striving always to be the very best REALTOR® in my market.
SHERRI – My loving wife since July 28, 2001 – Truly the best thing that ever in my life.The fact that she has cancer has no bearing on my love for her.She is what completes my life and makes me a whole man.
TEAM – Not a new concept but one that I believe works best in the Real Estate Business Model.There are so many aspects to a successful real estate business that it is near impossible for one person to do them all, on time and to the best of their ability.Therefore, I believe that by the combined efforts of several that the business can successfully be divided and administered to accomplish so much more than any one individual could ever possible do.
UNDER PROMISE AND OVER DELIVER – Not an original concept but a great one for anyone who makes their living in any service industry…heck in life in general.If you overpromise but don’t live up to the expectations you have laid out you will only find yourself miserable and wonder why your clients don’t respond to you anymore.It is much better to be a HERO than a ZERO.

WINNING ATTITUDE – Not sure where it came from because I didn’t always think of myself as a winner.I do know that when you think of yourself as a loser than that is exactly what everyone else thinks of you too.Confidence is so important in life.Without a winning attitude it is easy to become a door mat to people who will use and abuse you.

ZERO – Or Hero.It’s a personal choice and I would much rather be a hero.When someone over promises and under delivers they become a zero in the eyes of the person promised.Imagine a loan office promising to close loans in 21 days and constantly taking 28.A big Zero, even though loans are closing in less than a typical 30 days the promise was not lived up to.Now imagine a loan officer who promised to close in 30 days but actually has a 28 day track record – now that’s a hero to everyone. <!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--> <!--[endif]-->
