Jaime Portillo was 12 years old when his life changed forever. He still remembers that day when his family arrived in the United States, and how his heart pounded at the thought of all the challenges that lay ahead. They seemed insurmountable to a young boy who spoke no English. But then the car pulled to a stop at a super market. Jaime leapt at the chance to see what an American store looked like. In doing so, he entered a brand new world. The super market's pristine shelves lined with everything from motor oil, toys and canned foods and its refrigerators filled with sodas, ice cream and sandwiches overwhelmed him. "There was so much abundance" he remenbers. "It seems funny, but that's when I realized that this was a country where anything is possible," he says today.
New Life, New Opportunitites
When Jaime looks back on those early days in the United States, he's amazed at how far he has come. The distance he covered in moving one culture to another still seems far greater than the miles his family drove from El Salvador to Long Beach, California. The adjustment to his new life wasn't an easy one, but Jaime had a dream-to own a business- and he knew he could achieve it. With hard work, diligence and determination, he reached his goal and made his dream real. Ever since then, Jaime has devoted his life to helping others do the same.
A Solid Foundation
Jaime credits his parents for establishing a solid foundation for his success. The two worked hard to give their children a better life, and they never failed to stress the importance of honesty, integrity and a good education. As the eldest of five, Jaime strived to live up to the example of his parents by setting an equally strong example for his younger siblings. He studied International Business at Long Beach City College and honed this fine eye for detail by classifying imports for tax purposes for Customs Brokers. He spent five years with FedEx Trade Networks in this capacity, rapidly moving up to positions of greater responsibility. Jaime also began buying, remodeling and selling house with his father-an experience that paved the way for his future endeavors.
A New Dream
It was in real estate that Jaime found the perfect avenue for helping others achieve their dreams. When his parents decided to pick up roots and move to Utah to be close to other family members, Jaime decided to make his dream real. Within a month of his arrival he embarked on his real estate career, and his reputation continues to grow as he helps more and more clients achieve their real estate goals. Jaime is fiercely dedicated to helping people achieve the American dream of home ownership. Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, he offers comprehensive services and support, including special report and information, in both languages to meet the needs of his diverse clientele.
