In General

Joseph "Cathan" Potter is a life-long Sonoma County resident, currently residing in Northwest Santa Rosa.

Education

Cathan attended various public schools in Sonoma County from elementary through high school, ultimately earning a diploma from Piner High School.  For college, he attended first the Santa Rosa Junior College where he was granted the degree of Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies & Sciences, General Education.  Cathan then went on to Dominican University of California, in San Rafael, where he earned a Bachelor or Arts degree in Music, with a minor in Philosophy; while also playing on the LaCrosse team.  He began his course work in real estate, at the Santa Rosa Junior College, after returning home to Santa Rosa.

Current Activities

Cathan currently participates in the Sebastopol Toastmasters Club, which meets twice per month on Monday nights (http://reports.toastmasters.org/findaclub/ to find a club in your area).  He also spends some of his weekends playing in the Lusitania Band of the North Bay, a heritage marching band through the local Portuguese cultural society.  (If interested in more information on either group, please just drop Cathan a line by email.)

Previous Employment

Cathan began working at about age 12, cleaning his grandfather's insurance agency's office space (initially, at least, in order to earn enough money to purchase hockey equipment).  (He even held a business license for this business under the company name "Cathan's Cleaning".)

Beginning his sophomore year of high school he began working at Soccer & Sports, a store that sells soccer and rugby equipment, which at the time was located in Rohnert Park (now, on Todd Rd in Santa Rosa).

After returning from college in San Rafael, he obtained a position with Mesa Beverage Company, Inc (a beer distributor for Sonoma and Marin Counties) in Santa Rosa.  He held the position for ten months, loading the trucks at night.  (It was during this time that Cathan began his course work in real estate.)

Next, he became an Apprentice Carpenter through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local #35, San Rafael, CA.  As a carpenter he spent most of his time constructing concrete formwork.

Cathan passed his California State Real Estate Salesperson exam and was licensed (CA DRE # 01855627) in November 2008.
