I am a native but not a lifelong resident of Rockford, IL. I have been a REALTOR in Rockford for the past 20 years. In that time I have served in various capacities for the Rockford Area Association of Realtors, including as it's President. I was the Rockford Area Association of Realtors "Realtor of the Year" in 2001. Additionally I have served as Chairman of the Illinois Association of Realtors Professional Standards, Grievance and Issues Mobilization Committees. I am also certified by the the National Association of Realtors to provide mediation services.
Additionally, I currently am one of three members (current Chairman) of the Winnebago County Board of Review. The Board of Review hears all property tax assessment complaints and determines whether the value placed on the property by the local assessor is accurate. I have attained the designation of "Certified Illinois Assessment Official".
In my previous life, that is, prior to real estate, I managed a district office of collateral control auditors for a national warehouse corporation. Prior to that I was an Management Analyst for the United States Air Force. I was recognized as the Management Analysis and Budget NCO of the Year in the Pacific Air Command in 1978. I received a Meritorious Service Medal in 1977.
I'm married and have 1 daughter (a teenager). My wife, although not a Realtor, has been employed in the real estate industry longer than I have. She manages all of the closings, trust accounts, and books for the same company I am with. Being that as it is...I haven't seen the "front" of a commission check since I married her 17 years ago.
