I have this one listed for $2.5m and another for $2.4m and several in the $1.5m region

I'm interested to see some of these answers. I know here in Honolulu you can buy anything from a high-floor new build condo to a 60 year old dilapidated home without a view, but that's Hawai'i for ya.

It will buy a home is a standard neighborhood with no outstanding amenities.  $5,000,000 will get you a gated, gulf course, 5 pool and 15 tennis courts.

John, not a single home for sale even close to that,  but you could buy 14 homes for that at our median sales price in the Tippecanoe County.

John, Two million in my area will get you the top of the line luxury home.  There are some homes that sell north of that, but they're mostly estates that belong to the seriously high powered (CEOs, big time attorneys, etc.) or moneyed families.

In the Charlotte area, it will buy you a veritable mansion! We have 116 active listings at $2 million or more. But keep in mind our mls covers 2 states and some 12 counties.

That would be a very nice and well maintained home in an area with a top school district.  (Taxes would be very high, as we have some of the highest rates in the country anyway).  In several of our towns, the avg home value  is slightly above $1.5 million, so it would be nice but there would certainly be more expensive homes in the area too.
