we were never big on providing seminars.... we did a few in conjunction with local banks, but they did not amount to anything....the prep time was not worth it....

I did a few over the years. Had everything from complete no shows = that's zero attendance to a good average of  8-12 attendees. You have to do them consistently for numbers I've deduced. Because turnout is never what you hoped per. But, over time the numbers are there in total. I'm revamping mine with a lender and financial advisor as we add my home inspector to the mix. I like them.

I prefer to attract highend buyers.  First time buyers are a lot of work for little financial reward.

We've done a few. They went well - interested attendees, good contacts, but no clients out of them.

Did them regularly during tax credit days - went well, attendence varied, got a client or two out of them. Haven't done them since. Not planning to either.

Michael,

We met a guy who does that, and he does really well with this method.  He has loan brokers there to take care of anyone who is looking to buy as well as his agents.  It is time consuming, and he has a lot of people who take care of all the details.  A

I do them using webinars, not in person. It helps get new leads of Facebook to fill the pipeline.

When I was new in the business, I held one.  It's a lot of work and I have heard some success stories, I have chosen different events and marketing to generate leads and business.

We don't do seminars.  We don't do new home seminars because in our market there aren't any spec homes.  Only large gated developments with builders reps.

Michael Thornton I used to have a few - and now, planning on one more in 2nd/3rd week of September. Preparing my presentation and want to include something for home inspections (about 5-10 minutes).

Checking some posts from members like you.

I liked your 'DIY' series.

Will you be able to share something with me, Michael?

No.  They seem gimmicky to me.  Most of our marketing goes to our sphere and attracting those sellers that are moving up.  I think it might work for some folks, just not us.

New home buyer seminars have not been an effective practice for me. It takes a lot of time and effort to generate successful seminars.

Yes I do them but I split them between up between different areas of the city or in different cities.  For instance I focus on military buyers when i hold them at or near a military base and I bring in a lender who has a reputation for handling VA loans efficiently.  I sometimes do a home buyer/seller seminar together and build the content around that.  The key is consistancy.  And by using a small select group of lenders, they become stronger referral partners for me.  You may not get one of the people coming to your seminar to use you but I bet they will refer you to one of their friends.

Success is completely based on how you make your decisions and how you conduct yourself. Home buyer seminars can be a waste of time if you do not put in the time and effort. I am very careful of the venue I choose, the educational materials I provide, and marketing I do for the event. If you do everything you can to win your audience and get them to the venue than Buyer seminars can be very friutful.

I do them, and need to start getting one set up soon. It is time consuming, there are no shows, and i have to organize the speakers. Usually me, a loan office, title attorney or rep, and home inspector. Those that complete course, get to keep book, get certificate good for 2 years that qualifies them to receive funds from state. Finding a location to hold the event is not easy.
