I felt nothing was going to be more powerful than the Sotheby's brand which is why I joined the Brokerage. I am the only one in my area so I guess I am the brand!
We think that if your intention is to be top of mind and income in your marketplace, you need a brand. If your goals are not in line with that (nothing wrong with that, you can still earn a great living), you don't need one. I liken it to sports or Hollywood. They are stars and there are supporting casts. They both make a good living, the stars make the huge bucks.

Sort of. I do tend to try to serve Professional People, Attorneys, Business owers, Physicians. They are about 80% of my clients. It does not stop others form connecting with me. I push buyer agency, suits my character and disposition more than sellers.

It's important. Though, it's difficult to find one that is really unique.
Reputation is primary, and can't be created overnight. But while establishing that track record, it's good to be associated with something shiny in the public perception.
Branding works well for UnderArmour where the customer and product has much in common. In real estate, we find, each client is different and branding may leave a existing part of our market on the curb.
Effective brands like Enterprise, Apple, Honest Tea, Air Jordan and Fat Toad have all created and advanced their STORY which is inseparable from their brand.
REMAX has a story and an brand from which I benefit. The message, 'The mark of a REMAX agent' works well for me. This brand makes a HUGE impact on my engagement, conversation and presentation to homeowners.
If I worked under the shingle of "Gone with the Wind' brokerage, I would NEED a story and message, a brand if you will, to compete with those organizations whose story is already public.

Oh yes! We are also the owners of the real estate brokerage so brand is huge. For individual agents, branding should be a very important part of their business plan.
Also,for Google, brand is huge. Your brand needs to be a part of your SEO strategy especially if you own your brokerage. But also if you want to compete with zippo online, you have to show Google that you are the brand over your niche.

I have been making an events page for over a decade and hope that this has been part of my branding. I also use a couple of models consistently "No one cares what you know unless they know that you care" & Our 4 Favorite Words are "Honesty, Integrigy, Ethics & Faith" I hope these work for our branding as well.
