Get a new laptop or hook up an external keyboard

Hmmmm....I gues you must be Paul S. Hendersn, Realtr®, Brker, Tacma Washingtn - yes, it's time to get a new laptp!!!   

I also use a laptop but it is mac and I really try to be nice and loving towards it:) 

p.s. Do you clean it with compressed air? 

De ja Vu, my O did the same thing and then i hit the keyboard with my mouse and it works now. But i did chip the O. True strory and made me laugh at myself, but it is fixed

that's beginning to happen to me....on occasion....but I grin and bear it.... 

I have trouble with the letter A on mine.

Looks like getting some good answers..sorry this has happened.

I still have a typewriting (yes!) in which the 1 does not work.  I use the l button instead.  Can you use the zero? Either that or get a new laptop.

One of the best tech support tickets I ever saw was someone who's U,J,M keys stopped working (common for that keyboard brand to have a diagonal line stop working).  He typed up a long multi-paragraph support request that was missing those letters.  We laughed so hard half the team went out to replace the keyboard and to thank the comedic genius for the laugh!

Is it wireless? Do you need to change the battery? This happens to me and I usually go through cleaning, compressed air, swearing and then I remember to check the battery and that usually does the trick.

It's time to take it to a technician for treatment...

That's all the excuse I needed to fix a $29 dollar problem using Blue Tooth, with the cost of acquiring two Microsoft Surface Pros, fully tricked out.

In five years, I'll do it again, but not sure what justification I will use at that time.

HINT: Best Buy does do price matching.

Here's what I had ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttto deal with at one time after a coffeee spill. Hated it, easy fix though, keyboard replaced. They're cheap!

Did you try the canned air? Whatever it is your 'o' key is sticky.

Sounds like it's time for a new one! I had the same problem with one of my previous computers and that drove me nuts. I don't remember which key kept getting stuck but I eventually caved and purchased a new one.

Time to buy a new one. Last year just got an all-in-one and have a separate keyboard... and I replace it as it gets worn out.

If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.

If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40 (although I use silicone spray instead).

I usually take my equipment to Best Buy, and have them clean it, or get an external keyboard.

I use an external keyboard - wireless.  I can type much faster on it than directly from my laptop.  It might be cheaper to get an external keyboard than to replace your laptop.

I would be shopping for a new laptop!

Time for an upgrade.

I'm currently having trouble with my shift key. I'm a fast typer, so I am on to the second or third word of a sentence before realizing the first word is not capitalized. UGH!

I have a key board that is giving me fits

The keyboards will wear out and are very expensive to replace. This is when I would start searching for my next computer and consider that it was time.

Oh no, not sure why it is doing that.

If the laptop is more than 5 years old, time for a new one anyhow.

 Forget those expensive cans of compressed air.  Use a leaf blower.

 If that fails, get a peripheral keyboard.

I bought a toshiba a while back and the keyboard on it and another one in the office are both crappy like you describe.

I will be going back to Dell soon.

Same problem with my laptop. Yes, I have  to buy new one. 

If it isn't time to get a new laptop, I would take it in to be serviced.  Compressed air and vacuuming can sometimes help, but if not it may need to be serviced.  Good Luck!

Personally, I hate it when my laptop is doing it.

PS - Anything to do with our excess of Rain??? PDX reports we are 7"+ above normal for the month, and we'll likely beat the all time record for February.

Ooh, laptop - have you taken it apart to clean or just wiped it down?

My guy says you need to turn it off and use some compressed air  - if that doesn't help you need to remove the keyboard layer (take it apart) and there is probably some crumbs under it

I feel your pain. My last computer did the same thing, Then I got a wireless keyboard, which ended up being too cumbersome. 

Use an external keyboard.

It happens. Used to happen on my landline phone, the numbers got stuck.

If you drop it on the floor from at least 4ft, it will either fix itself or a new laptop will appear.

You can try vacuuming it, or turn it updise down a lightly tap on it. Put a piece of clean paper down so you can see if any little grit is falling out.
