Great question, Diana Dahlberg!  A large portion of my clients are from financial or engineering backgrounds - the wives fall in love (emotional) but, the husbands want numbers and logical answers before they make a decision.

I think a lot of people buy and sell thinking that they are using logic, but nearly everyone places emotion on it.  I tend to be more practical and logical and I think I bring the logic to the table when buyers and sellers are acting on emotion.  I want no regrets, no buyers remorse and so I ask a lot of questions and help clients think things through. -Kasey

I like facts but can sell the sizzle. First time buyers tend to buy with emotions and my more savvy, experienced buyers use logic. It apply what is needed in each situation and it works for me most of the time.

Great questions. Home sales for buyers and sellers are often filled with emotion. Investment property is very logical.  Our job, when representing buyers and sellers and emotion is involved, is to try to get the clients pulled back into logic. Do you want to sell? Or do you want to buy this house? Then these are the steps we need to do--and try to get the clients to see the logic of their decisions rather than pull emotion in.

I try to feel them out at first and you may find that with an engineer it might be 95% logic and 5% emotion. A artist in Hollywood would perhaps be making decisions with 95% emotion and 5% logic.

There are other types of creatures that appear to use little to no logic at all...while appearing to be human at least physically.

I would say Logically.  In our world today, consumers seem to be more educated and are interested most in their ROI (Return on Investment).   When it makes logical sense to purchase a property that is appealing, my customers are more likely to Purchase.   I find the same to be true with listings.   Showing clear numbers to the benefits of Agent Assisted transactions appeals to more.    Of course, there always is that EXCEPTION.......   :)

When you say "solution", do you mean a problem that may be occuring in a transaction that you are trying to overcome?

If so, I believe consulting means using logic to appeal to someones emotional response system to help them move forward.

As an agent I hope I make more sales using logic over emotion. But have been known to go fight for my clients and when I do that it is more emotionally based.  I have seen Buyers and Seller use both emotions and logic in their decisions. Sometimes both can get in the way of the process of selling and then that's where I find it hard to keep my emotions in check.
