Golf course sales or, worse yet, abandonment, can have significant negative effect on property values.  I know of two such cases.

I wrote about the affect on cell towers and teh value of homes near them. A local guy who was going to lease his land for said cell tower, not just called, but came by, ticked off yet had no clue what he was saying

Nasty comments on my blog, but no calls.  I did have an angry call once by a recipient of a farming mailer.  He was so upset that his sale was disclosed with the others that happened.  Turns out, he paid the most and got the least in closing.  I just took him off the mailing list.
