I know an agent who closed $25 million last year. She uses AOL for her email. Go figure.

Interesting take. Personally, I believe having your own domain linked Email address is a better representation of you as a professional to new clients. It does make a more professional impression.
Maybe the writer's point was that Gmail addresses are too easy to get and use for this type of activity. I still have an 26 yr old AOL address that I use as a backup email, and have a gmail address that I use as a spam catcher.

I believe agents should have their business email at their own domain - i.e. johnd@johndoehomes.com, not johnd@remax.com
But, you should not host the email on the same server as your website - use an email service like Gsuite, or others.
Having johnd@gmail.com is not terrible, but for $5 per month you can use your own domain and have all the advantages of Gmail, plus a few other perks.
No, I don't work for Google. I just believe in making one's life easier, and Gsuite fits the bill.

I'm with Todd Phillips on this one and have advised many a new agent on this in the past. Get your own business domain name (preferrably a .com) and use that as your primary email. This gives a MUCH more professional look. I use that for business and have a personal Gmail account that I rarely use for work (usually only when there is an issue with emails getting hit by spam).

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 Verizon turned all of their email account over to AOL. I was able to keep @verizon.net. I have a gmail email, but never use it.

I always enjoy seeing all the "lenders" who promote some scheme or another an expect people to send all of their private info to a gmail address that may or may not be in some sweatshop in a foreign country.

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 Since you want newer agents to respond, I will respond as a real estate instructor/trainer for 25+ years.
- If you have joined a small independent company, get your own domain business name and use that as your email. maryyonkers@maryyonkers.com
- If you have joined a larger firm, use the company email. maryyonkers@howardhanna.com
- All business correspondence should be through your business email, not personal email
- Create a business signature Mary Yonkers that includes contact information.

I think everyone has an opinion...and they're entitled to it!
I have several - my domain, my company, my iCloud and my gmail accounts. I use them for various marketing/reasons.
I am not one who judges others by their email address, personally!

Stay away from emails like this ( just got it as a lead from AR!):
Excuse my intrusion into your private life without your prior permission. I hope my mail will not cause you much embarrassment as I write to you in good faith. I am Barrister Phil Faris, lawyer from West Africa in the Province of Lome Republic of Togo . I am in touch with you regarding the death of my late client , who died on auto mobile accident with his wife and only daughther on December 30, 2009, leaving a huge amount of money ($ 8.5 million USD) in a bank here in my country. After unsuccessful attempts to locate his relatives as his personal lawyer, I decided to contact you because you bear the same surname and the family tree research show that you are his next of kin. Unfortunately, my late client does not have any stated next of kin who can lay claim to the fund/legacy he left behind that is the reason why I contacted you to receive this fund since you bear the same last name with him . As soon as i received your answer , i will send you all details and clarification about this claim. contact me through my private email for more details. email: Philfaris@yahoo.com Hope to hear from you soon.
