Description
Ray Spooner is Managing Broker for Washington offices of John L. Scott Columbia Gorge. He is a licensed broker in Oregon.

About Us:

Originally from North Carolina, I have traveled in all 50 states and a handful of other countries.  After graduating from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, I spent four years in the US Air Force as a survival instructor.  While stationed at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, I earned a degree in education and built a home near Orient, WA.  Well, ok, it was a log cabin with an outhouse, wood stove and kerosene lamps.

I taught school in the town of Orient for three years and eventually moved to White Salmon, WA where I taught for three more years.  Eventually I moved to Vancouver and taught high school social studies for ten years.  That included a one-year exchange with a teacher from Australia and a three week cultural exchange to Japan.

I am  now a managing broker for a real estate office in Bingen, Wa.  I am  licensed in Oregon and include most of the mid-Columbia Gorge in my sales region.  I am a Washington state director representing our local association and I am on the Professional Standards review committee for the local association.  I have earned the GRI, CRS, CRBM, ABR and CNE designations.  I am also certified to teach real estate classes in Washington and enjoy traveling and meeting agents all over the state.

Areas of Expertise

An area of special interest and emphasis is education.  In the past three years, I have earned the GRI, CRS, CRB, ABR and CNE designations.  After taking the instructor training class, I was certified to teach real estate classes in Washington.  I wrote a course on how to write good contingencies and use them effectively in contract negotiations.  A new course I authored has been approved by Washington and is titled "Your Personal Value as a REALTOR".  Attending and teaching classes in other areas is a terrific opportunity to meet and talk with colleagues in different markets and gain perspective.

Testimonials

"It was a pleasure meeting you for the classes you presented.  I just wanted to tell you what a great presenter you were.  You made education fun and thus retainable"...Michelle Swanson
