I started with my first real estate website in 2001 when I knew absolutely nothing about website design or search engine optimization (SEO). My first website was built in a couple of nights using a free version of Dreamweaver. The site was absolutely horrible. Realtor websites were in their infancy in those days and not many agents were making much money off the web. In 2003 I graduated to an Advanced Access website because they held a seminar at my local association. After a few months and some tinkering with my website I had it ranking well for a couple of phrases. After I started to rank well my traffic started to increase and then something great happened. I started to close some transactions and make some money. The Internet was not really the focus of my business in those days. It was kind of like icing on the cake and if a transaction happened that was great but I didn’t really rely on it. After closing a few deals I realized that a great website could be a tremendous lead generation tool.
I knew that the Internet was going to change the real estate industry and went looking for a quality web designer. Finding a professional, knowledgeable web designer is a daunting task. There are so many companies to choose from. I needed to find a firm that could not only build me a great looking website but one that had knowledge about search engine optimization. There are a lot of great designers out there who know nothing about SEO. A gorgeous website with no traffic was useless to me. I was interested in making money, not winning website awards.
I ran across some great looking websites that were designed by Real Estate Webmasters and called Morgan Carey to discuss my needs. I also wanted to see if he knew anything about search engine optimization. His knowledge was impressive. His company's sites looked great and many of them were ranking well in the search engines. This was what I was looking for.
It has been nearly 5 years since Real Estate Webmasters built my first site. They built me some template sites, two custom designs, IDX’s, blogs, map searches and several other custom features. They are a great group of people to work with and are on the cutting edge of real estate website technology. Their content management system (CMS) is easy to use and you don’t need to be a programmer. The back office allows you to build as many pages and add as much content as you desire.
