These days, when he's not intently focused on handling matters for his business clientele, Terry delights in time shared with his wife, Barbara, and children Chris and Angela. Often in the company of close friends, the couple goes on snorkel and scuba-diving adventures along the California coast. Closer to home, they're active in their church and cmmitted to the community. They support the local food locker which provides food for the homeless and under fed families in the community. Each year they participate in "Festival of Trees," which benefits Opportunity House, a local homeless shelter. They support the Police Athletic League (PAL) as well. And both of then are devoted animal lovers who've rescued numerous stray dogs and cats.

In His Element:

Terry Hughes is in his element. It's a body of water preferably warm anywhere up to 120 feet below the surface. The coastal waters of the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands are a striking blue aquamarine. They're amazingly clear as well. Peering through the glass panels of his diving mask, Terry sees a variety of fish-some swimming alone and others in schools. Diving is Tropical seas, he notes huge eagle rays, large moray eels, squid and large, friendly sea turtles. Moments later a pod of dolphins passes overhead. (Eaqually interesting, Northern California waters although allot colder and less clear reveal  playfull seals and otters and, on the bottom a multitude of Abalone.) Dazzled by the spectacle and diversity of life in marine environments, Terry takes it all in, his focus intense and unwavering.

When Terry pursues his favorite pastime, scuba diving, he's in his element-focused on the fasinating marine life all around him. The buyers inspector stated there was a structural problem with our foundation. Terry called a structural engineer to assess the issue, as it turned out the home was built correctly and the engineer's report refuted the contractors claim. Our home sold to the same buyer, Terry stayed on top of the situation and helped get it resolved. Terry was efficient and well organized, we highly recommend him.

Thanks to Terry Hughes we were able to overcome a very bad situation. Before the market crash my wife and I refinanced our home in Vacaville CA, we were just trying mainly to lower our monthly payments. We trusted the lender to help us and really thought he was doing the right thing for us. He said all the right things and seemed very honest. Then when our payments started going up higher we knew there was a problem. Our lender did not return our phone calls, the bank we were paying was not sympathetic to our concerns. They said we are just servicing the loan, they did not create loan. At this time we had never been late on a payment. We needed answers and a plan of action to help us. Our payments were going to keep going up and our jobs were going to end soon. We are very fortunate to have met Terry Hughes at RE/MAX Gold in Vacaville CA. Terry looked over our loan documents and noted that our lender was paid 4.75 points on the back end and charged us 2 points on the front end, then sold us an adjustable rate mortgage. Terry said most of the time borrowers never read the whole loan, they just trust the person doing the loan to be above board. He also said the lender was not held to a fiduciary set of standards like the Realtor is. Our loan was $400,000 and Terry says the lender made $27,000 for selling us a bad deal. Terry took this information and the fact that our jobs were ending along with some other financial information and made a case for us with the bank servicing our loan. He was able to secure a short sale for us without us ever missing one payment. We never got a notice of default and never came close to being foreclosed on. Our credit was salvaged, because Terry Hughes did an outstanding  job representing us. Whoever you are if your reading this chances are you need a Realtor.
