My Professional and Personal Background

As a lifelong resident of Houston, I know the city well and am passionate about everything Houston has to offer.

Having practiced law for over 18 years, I truly enjoy the contractual element of real estate, and my background has enabled me to remove the “fear factor” from what could otherwise be an overwhelming, document-intensive process for clients.

Recognizing the importance of continuing education and advanced certifications, I am continually participating in seminars and training courses.  In addition to obtaining a broker's license, I have earned the following designations and certifications:

 

  • CRS – Certified Residential Specialist – A designation from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) achieved by less than 4% of all Realtors, requiring several training courses and significant production. (My application was based on 25 transactions and over $10 million in sales in a one-year period.)
  • ABR – Accredited Buyer Representative – A designation from the Real Estate Buyers Education Council, a council of NAR, based on educational and production requirements related to representing buyers, including in-depth training on Buyer Representation Agreements and purchase contracts.
  • ALHS & CLHMS – Accredited Luxury Home Specialist and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist – Designations from the Luxury Home Council and the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing based on training programs and production requirements, including selling a specified number of homes valued over $500,000.
  • GREEN Designation - A designation from NAR based on training related to transactions involving energy-efficient and environmentally friendly construction practices
  • SRES – Senior Real Estate Specialist – A designation from NAR based on training related to transactions involving “Active Adults” and Seniors
  • CDPE – Certified Distressed Property Expert – A designation from the Distressed Property Institute  based on training  related to transactions involving short sales 

My designation as a multimillion-dollar Top Producing agent at RE/MAX Metro evidences success in helping buyers and sellers navigate through the process, whether it is a $100,000 condo, a foreclosure, or a multimillion-dollar River Oaks mansion. I genuinely enjoy representing clients at all price levels and at all levels of experience; in fact, I’ve found working with first-time buyers to be among the most rewarding experiences in real estate.  Another experience I have found to be personally rewarding is helping homeowners avoid foreclosure.  My staff and I pursued training on handling "short sales" so that we could be an effective resource for homeowners who need to sell but who are upside down on their mortgage.

A career in real estate requires a strong sales and marketing background, which is where my decades of experience as a business owner come into play. Recognizing that selling a house involves more than simply listing it on MLS, I have created a comprehensive marketing program that has consistently reaped great results for my clients. More importantly, to effectuate that program, I have assembled a team which includes support staff, another licensed agent, a professional stager, a professional photographer, and even contractors and cleaning crews. I do hold open houses and have found them to be worthwhile and productive for most properties. Furthermore, when listing a property, I commit significant personal resources – time and money – to promote that property.

In addition to my real estate practice, I also own and operate Happy Tails Dog Spa on Waugh Drive. I’ve been around dogs my entire life and currently have two adorable Yorkies, Spike & Daisy. As an avid supporter of animal rescue, I have made the personal commitment and practice to donate a percentage of my commissions to the animal shelter or rescue organization of my clients’ choice. I also support other charities and am glad to donate generously from my commissions to causes that are important to my clients.

In my personal life, I am active in the community and enjoy everything Houston has to offer, including its world-class museums, zoo, parks and theaters, and its incredible selection of restaurants. My hobbies include fitness & nutrition, and on weekends you can find me jogging or bike-riding in Memorial Park or along Buffalo Bayou at Allen Parkway. And for all of you musicians out there, I’ve studied and played piano since childhood and have an extensive repertoire!
