Who Am I and How Did I Get Into Reverse Mortgages?

My mother is one of the main reasons I got into the business of Reverse Mortgage in Southern California.  Eight years ago she and my dad were having troubles meeting their monthly obligations.  Living on a fixed income in a home that they had paid cash for sounded like the perfect retirement, but the beautiful lake front home they bought had some construction defects and was in need of repair.  Mom's dream home was turning into a money pit and they had racked up some debts that were biting into their income. As the eldest daughter and with lots of escrow and lending background, mom turned to me to find out about a Reverse Mortgage.  Together we walked through the process and today, 8 years later I have to say, Mom  has very few financial worries. The money they save monthly by not having debt payments, goes into a travel fund that they enjoy thoroughly.  They also have a healthy line of credit set aside for emergencies and have recently used a bit of those funds to install a chair lift in their home, making it more "Age In Place" friendly.

I grew up in Southern California and have lived all of my adult life in the Inland Empire.  I currently reside in Corona, California.  I have been married 33 years to my husband, David.  We have 4 children, two still at home.

I am the eldest of 7 siblings and take special pride in that role. My mother is a great inspiration to me and lives nearby in Temecula, California.  All of my siblings are also still in Southern California and we love to get together at mom and pops house for holidays, birthdays and just dropping in.
