About Us:
I am a Certified ASHI home inspector, insured and a member of Better Business Bureau. I am a member of the Minnesota Society of Home Inspectors as well as the American Society of Home Inspectors. After 9/11 I found myself out of a job. I was a plastic mold maker for over 20 years, and manufactoring was not the best profession to be in at that time, my small company went under. I went back to school at Prosource and became a registered home appraiser and continued my education to include all 300 hours to become a home inspector. After 250 inspections, you can qualify to try to be a ASHI Certified inspector. They take 50 random reports, study them, grade them (I got 93%), then take 2 long tests. Only after that scrutiny, can you become a Certified ASHI home inspector. There are stipulations, one is that one has to keep up with yearly additional training. Now I have done over 700 inspections, my business is solid and enjoying every inspection. I do appraisals, but loan officers usually hire the appraiser, I do them when asked from a company that uses me when it does not interfere with my home inspection business.
I have 2 - 48 hour Radon detectors that are busy - radon detection has received the attention it should have. I use a Moisture tester in all of my inspections. When you see a dry or wet stain, you need to know the percentage of moisture behind the wall or ceiling. I pride myself in taking time to explain to the buyer the problems found and possible solutions. Most problems have a simple and cheap solution, but sound scary. It takes over 3 hours for the inspection and then my report takes about 1 1/2 to prepare. The report is emailed THAT SAME DAY and mailed out the next day. In my report I include a picture of the house as a cover, the 20-25 page report, and added information about maintenance on a house and life expectancy on appliances and other items around the house, and safety tips.
I have many great references, have realtors who like using my services and many clients who refer me to friends and family. I am very dependable, on time and really enjoy meeting and helping my customers.
I like what I do, and it is giving me a good profession that I am very proud of. Please check out my website at reliableinspections.org to know me better.
Areas of Expertise
I have done close to 1,000 nspections. I have come in contact with many issues, many I thought I would not have to deal with. I do well with first time buyers to high end homes. The inspection list goes for any house. Of course high end houses have more to deal with....but a house is a house. I like to explain what I find to potential buyers. Many of the problems have simple inexpensive ways to fix the problems. Very few problems should change your decision on buying a house and there are a few problems that should definitely change your mind about the house. The older the house, usually more problems. Let me explain these things to you in person and on my narrative report with pictures.
Check out my references on my website and you will be glad you chose me.
I do not want you to buy a money pit, neither do I want you to pass a great house because of some fixable problems.
That is what a good home inspector can do for you.
